"Ugh, I can't wait to give birth already," I groaned as I held onto Miall's hand. We were walking on a trail with giant trees around us. So much for reserving a spot.
I usually would be scared because I was sure this was where people disappeared; however, Miall brought a safe feeling.
"We're almost there," he laughed, squeezing my hand gently.
"If we had just gone home, I would've already eaten—woah," I stopped my rant as we made it out of the woods. "Blue skies? Blue skies! Are we on—" I turned to face him, and he smiled, nodding.
"Yes, we're on earth," he confirmed, and a scream left my lips.
"How!" I covered my mouth. "You didn't even open a portal, though," I whispered, looking at him.
We stood on a cliff, and the scenery was beautiful. The lush green forest welcomed us with its warmth and fresh air.
"Nothing compares to this," I sighed, and Miall cocked his head to the side. "You know what I mean," I laughed, clinging to his arm.
"Yeah, your polluted air makes you happy," he rolled his hands, and I laughed. Nothing smelled like home.
"But I still don't get it. Everybody else has to open a portal, and either a black box or something of the sort opens up. However, we just walked through the woods with you, and here we are."
"It's different with everyone. Mom can think of a place, and she will appear there," he shrugged as he helped me down onto the blanket he had laid on the ground.
Aww, what a cutie!
"Does that mean I will be able to open portals as well?" I asked excitedly, and he slowly shook his head.
"I don't think that's how it works." Ugh, there goes my dreams of appearing in Christoper Bang's house. "And I don't think they would appreciate that."
I rolled my eyes and pointed a finger at him.
"Are you sure you're smart? There are many things you don't know or how they work," I teased, and he smiled. "So this is your idea of a date?"
"Don't you like it?" I love it.
"I told you I like expensive things," I whispered, and he pressed his lips to mine for a quick kiss.
"I'll remember that next time. Ice tea or juice?" he raised the bottles, and I picked the tea.
"Why don't you talk much about your brother, Kye?" I tilted my head to the side, watching him; his movements halted before he shrugged his shoulders.
"There's not much to say about him."
"But I don't get it. How is he your half-brother if he isn't your mother's or father's biological son? He's your uncle's child, isn't he?"
"Yes, but mother raised him, so he is my brother," he replied. "Now open your mouth and eat. You said you were hungry."
He held my jaw softly and pushed a piece of the muffin into my mouth. I chewed slowly, contemplating whether to eat quietly or carry on talking; the latter seemed just right.
"But your life just sounds so interesti—hmph," he pushed another piece into my mouth. "That isn't fair."
I grumbled, taking the muffin away from his hand and stuffing it into my mouth.
"You look beautiful," he said softly, and I squinted my eyes.
"Quiet or stuffed?" Hopefully, the latter, cause I bet the last money in my account, I looked better with him in me.
