Naja had disappeared into thin air after she said this trial would be fun. I was still confused about what was happening.
In the previous trial, it felt like I was going through Orion's memories just to find myself standing at a door waiting for Orion to come out of his deep slumber. How we had switched positions was blurry to me, but it also felt like it made sense.
It wasn't about me.
That woman that Orion said was his wife Zyrah looked like Amanah, although a few things told them apart.
Amanah's eyes were a lighter shade of brown compared to Zyrah's. She had a beauty spot right next to her left eye. But there was still so much that was the same. The way they were so mean with their words yet kind in their actions almost convinced me they were one person.
Orion definitely had a type.
I looked at Orion, but his jaw was still clenched.
"Are you okay?" I asked, and his left eye twitched.
"Tie your stupid hair!" He bellowed, and I leaned away from him, gathering my hair into a ponytail behind my back and tying it. "I don't get why your hair has to be that long," he grumbled, and I smiled cocking my head to the side.
"I look better this way. What happens now?" I asked, looking around the ocean, and the blue sky slowly turned into an unpleasant grey.
I love grey, but that colour didn't look favourable.
"In case you haven't noticed, Miall, we can't move," Orion said, and I stared at my feet; they were covered in what seemed to be mud, but it was hardened. "Don't try to move; it will only get harder," Orion said calmly as he crossed his arms over his chest.
"What's that?" I pointed to the ocean, and it seemed like something was emerging. A putrid aura arose with them as they began approaching us.
"Fuck," Orion whispered as he stared ahead with a worried look. He nibbled on his lip as he took a deep breath in. He grimaced and gagged before looking at me.
"What?" I asked worriedly. I didn't like the look he had on his face.
"Miall," he slowly said, and I anticipated what he would say. "I'm so—" he gagged as he looked away.
"What?" I muttered, confused. I looked out to the shore at the grimy-looking creatures that looked like rocks stacked on each other. They slowly walked towards us, but Orion was still gagging. "Are you disgusted by those things?"
"No, give me time," he raised his hand.
"I don't think we have time."
He took a deep breath in and stood up straight. He looked at me again and scrunched his eyebrows.
"Miall, I just want to apoluuuh—" he retched, shaking his head. "I can't do it," he shook his hands.
"Do what?"
"We have to apologize to each other so that we don't fight," he explained, and it was my turn to keck.
"I'd rather fight," I said, and he nodded. We looked at each other for a second before we both shivered. Just the thought of apologising to each other was enough to leave us both heaving.
"I'm glad we have an understanding," Orion said after we collected ourselves.
"Yeah, but how are we going to fight while stuck?" I asked, watching the mud climb higher and grow thicker.
"We're alpha, aren't we?" He smirked, raising his fists, and I smiled, raising mine too and bumped it against his.
"Do you think that will be enough?" Naja asked.
