After Miall marked me—again— the party turned into a celebration. Of course, everyone was happy that their Alpha had found his mate, how blessed he was.
My ass.
I felt indifferent to this whole situation. Was this really happening? What in the world compelled me to nod my head and say yes when he was clearly in love with Willow? Also, what happened that made him propose?
Stupid jerk!
I watched Miall as he looked out into the crowds, they all seemed so happy and excited for us and yet here we are, not happy at all. It pained me that he wasn't as happy as his face was. I know I wanted him more than anything, but I didn't feel okay with him pretending to want to be with me for the sake of whatever was happening in this pack.
I hated being lied to.
I got up from my seat, and Miall's head turned towards me, and he held my hand; I felt sick.
"Where are you going?" he asked with some bit of concern in his eyes. I smiled and pointed to the ground.
"To dance with the others, it's kind of boring here," I said, and he gave me a soft smile. "Do you want to come with me?" I offered, and he looked at the crowds of people and shook his head.
"I'll watch you from here," he let go of my hand, and I nodded, leaving him be. I disappeared into the crowds, and honestly, the mood here was lighter and happier. None of them were lying bastards like the man who just marked me for the second time.
I smiled and thanked all the people that congratulated me on my engagement with their alpha, and how happy they were for us. Yeah, I wish we could just be as happy.
"So, you're going to be Luna," Michael said, smiling amused as he stood in front of me, weirdly enough, a genuine smile graced my face as I talked to him.
He became a friend. I joined him by his table and watched as the people mingled together.
"It seems so. I should start acting like a lady, wouldn't you say?" I joked, and he nodded, laughing.
"I must say, your character as Luna would definitely be interesting. I can imagine all the laws you'd come up with and all the organisations you would create," he laughed, and I cocked my head to the side.
"I can do that?" I smiled.
"It seems we've found another lesson to study," he grinned, and I nodded in agreement.
"Wonderful, more lessons with my tutor! They're about to get one of the best Luna in the history of Niozian Lunas," I said sarcastically and he chuckled. I peeked into his cup and asked, "What are you drinking?"
"One of Nioz's best wines, I would offer, but you're carrying the nation's future," he said, and I giggled as I touched my belly.
"Ugh, pregnancy sucks. I would have been tasting the best wine right now," I stuck out my tongue and Michael chuckled, gosh he was so cute.
He didn't have his signature glasses on today and left his hair unkempt. All I knew was that it wasn't his normal combed back, and with that one lock falling into his face, he looked relaxed.
Man, women would surely fall in love with him easily.
"I've been meaning to ask, that tattoo..." he trailed off, and I tilted my head to the side, curious about the question. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked."
"Please ask. You're the only one here to ever mention it. I'll be more than happy to explain it," I said almost pleadingly.
My tattoos meant so much to me, but since nobody here, not even Nyleve, had asked about them, I had almost forgotten I had them despite seeing them every day.
