"Wow," Nyleve said again for the umpteenth time; she sat on my bed, blushing over the scans. It was the first time I had seen her smile like this.
"Would you like to keep that one?" I asked her, and she looked at me surprised. Man, she would be the best grandmother around; she was already so in love.
"Really?" The excitement in her eyes was evident, and she jumped a bit on the bed as she turned to face me. She was the cutest! Her grey hair once again was tied in a bun on the top of her head; her royal green gown flared on the bed as she kept me company in my bedroom.
"Yeah, you can keep it," I smiled.
"I'm going to frame it!" She said excitedly. "I'm sure Miall is looking at it right now," she said, looking at the scan.
"He didn't take one," I told her, and she snapped her head so fast that if she weren't a lycan, she would've accidentally killed herself.
"What? Why?"
"I don't know, but he did ask me to stop hanging out with Orion because he's in love with Willow and whatnot," I waved my hand as I prepared to go to bed.
"He said what!?" She got up, and I shrugged. "He should be spending time with you. Does he not know how important it is for vhafunwa to be with each other at this period? I'm going to have to talk to him." Translation: she was going to kill him.
"Nyleve, it's alright. I respect his decision, and it just shows he's serious about Willow; you should be more understanding. She's going to be your daughter-in-law," I smiled, and she shook her head slowly as she came closer to me and held my hands.
"You don't understand Amanah, ndi ene mufunwa wawe, and you two should be together for the sake of the baby," I never understood what they were saying when they talked in their language, but I just nodded and kissed her hands.
I can't be with someone who doesn't want me for the baby's sake.
"It's okay, we'll co-parent. I won't allow him to run away from his responsibility," I smiled softly, and she shook her head. "It's okay; we should both respect his decision. I have you."
"I'm so sorry that this is what it's like between you two," she whispered, and I shrugged.
"It's not like I'm totally alone. I have you guys to help me through it when he can't," I expressed, and she sighed as she let go of my face.
"You're right; I should let you rest," she said, and I nodded.
"Good night, Mom," she smiled brightly, but you could see the glum in her eyes.
"Good night, my child."
I laid on my back and stared up at the ceiling with my hands interlaced against my belly; this wasn't so bad. Some time away from Orion and Miall would definitely do me good. I wondered how Frank was doing and how long had it been for him. It now felt like it had been ages since I last saw him. I miss him.
I missed bartending and the epic drink splashes on Frank's face after being rejected; the memories made me chuckle. I always had second-hand embarrassment besides being funny, but Frank would always play it off with a smile; however, I guarantee that three out of the five rejections did get with him.
I felt him before I heard him; whenever he came to visit, it felt like he couldn't help but make an entrance. Even if it wasn't loud, his aura and presence were strong, and I always felt at peace whenever he entered the room.
"What are you laughing at?" Orion asked. I turned over to look at him and smiled as I saw him standing next to the window. Jealous lycan.
"Come here," I said, patting on the bed. It was almost as if he skipped over to the bed and joined me under the covers. His weight made the bed creak, and I smiled as I looked at him. I enjoyed having him around; he was much better than Miall. "Your eyes are gold today," I told him, and he looked surprised. "They were almost light grey yesterday."
