Marcus' POV

I patiently waited in front of our hotel. The sun was firing hot, turning my cheeks an even brighter shade of red. I have never been to America, so this is pretty exciting. But I wish it wasn't so... hot. But then again people from America who go to England must wish it wasn't so cold. But I like the cold, I guess its cause I'm just used to it already. But if I had a chance to decide if the world could be hot or cold, I'd pick cold.

I was snapped out of my random thoughts about the weather when Emily pulled up in front of me in her white jeep. I smiled at her as I hopped in, she slightly returned the smile.

Alfie and Fizzy had decided they would go shopping instead, leaving Emily and I alone. Which I have no problem with what so ever.

"So how have ya been?" I asked breaking the silence.

"Okay, and you?" She said, her eyes never leaving the road.

"Great" I said, well this is awkward......

-

We pulled up to the rodeo and the first thing I saw were the horses, I dragged Emily towards them.

"They're pretty" I said as we walked around looking at all the different horses. Emily mumbled a 'yea' and then her eyes were locked on a horse. It was really beautiful, it was a brown and white horse that stood with pride. She walked over to the horse and took the ropes from the worker.

"Hey Flicka" She said petting the horse. She smiled and turned to me.

"This is my horse, Flicka" She said ushering me slightly to come over and pet her.

"Hi, Flicka" I said petting her, she nudged my hand when I stopped, I laughed and continued petting her.

"Why is she here?" I asked looking at Emily curiously.

"Cause, I'm competing" Emily said with a half smile.

"I didn't know you were competing today!" I replied back with wide eyes I'm sure.

"You didn't ask" She said laughing lightly while shrugging.

"You better kick ass" I said to her, playfully nudging her with my elbow.

"We will both kick ass" She said referring to her and Flicka.

Emily's POV

I forgot to tell Marcus I was competing, I forget not everybody knows me as the rodeo girl.

I buttoned up my maroon shirt and slipped on my black boots quickly, not having much time. I brushed my hair out and put it in a side braid, and then put my black cowboy hat on.

I quickly walked over to Flicka and made sure she was ready. I gave her a reassuring look that I have always given her before every competition. I jumped onto her back and my trainer began to guide us to the arena.

When we were in I saw the perfectly set up obstacle course. I gave Flicka a quick pat before putting my game face on, eyeing the competition slightly.

(okay so I have no idea what to type so I'm just gonna ya know... skip to the awards)

-

I stood to the side waiting and hoping for my name to be called, I hope I get second or first, not once have I ever gotten third place and I don't plan on starting now.

"In Third place!" The announcer beamed "Is" I stood there anxiously biting my nails, a habit of mine when I'm nervous.

"Alicia and her horse Buttercup!" He said, and I let out a large breath that I didn't even know I was holding. I stood confidently, positive I would place second or first, I mean I didn't mess up once.

"Second place!" He said into his microphone.

"Is..." He enclosed the paper slowly, suspense filling the air. "Lisa and her horse Bud!" Oh my God!

"And in fist place! Is!... Emily and her horse Flicka!" He said and I ran over to the top of the podium. They handed me roses and placed a medal around my neck. I looked over to my horse who now also had a medal. I smiled at the audience and hopped off running over to Flicka.

"You did it again girl" I said kissing her on the nose quickly.

"Congrats" I spin around to find Marcus standing there.

"Thanks" I said with a small smile, turning back around to my horse.

"Lets get you put up girl" I said handing the rope over to my trainer who led her into the trailer.

"I'm freaking tired" I said looking up at Marcus.

"Lets get you home then shall we" he said putting his arm around my waist, I flinched at his actions and he gave me an apologetic look, a hint of sadness in his eyes.

"Sorry" he said looking away, I mumbled a 'lets go' and we walked off to the truck.

-

"No that's not our lane!" I yelled grabbing onto the wheel and hurriedly moving us back to our lane. Marcus isn't really grasping the concept of how we drive in America.

"Well that's stupid" He said focusing his attention on the road.

"Shit! What the fuck man!!" Marcus yelled as a car pulled in front of us, he honked and the driver flicked Marcus off. Marcus sat there in disbelief.

"Your in Texas now, what do you expect?" I said regretting letting Marcus drive.

Marcus tried going into the other lane again, which is still not our lane.

"Marcus! Oh my God your gonna get us killed!" I said and he went back to the right lane mumbling a 'sorry'.
