A few days later:

Charmaine: walking into Oliver's room) hello

Nurse; hey Mrs. Shaw, how are you today ?

Charmaine: I'm fine, what about yourself ?

Nurse: I can't complain

Charmaine: how's he doing?

Nurse; he still hasn't opened his eyes yet, but he is slightly responding to touch and your daughter was here and she said he squeezed her hand, but he won't squeeze ours.

Charmaine: how did he tolerate the feeding tube?

Nurse: he didn't like it, but we got it in and he's doing fine now, once he fully wakes up and opens his eyes and moves more , the doctor said we'll take it out

Charmaine: okay, thank you

Nurse: no problem, I'll be back to check on y'all later(walks out)

Charmaine:(walks over to the bed and kisses Oliver) hi baby(sits down and grabs his hand) I'm sorry I haven't been here in a few days. I needed to get some rest and make sure our newest baby was okay. I miss you, I can't wait til you wake up. (Sighs) I love you so much baby. I really do

(Oliver squeezes her hand and tries to open his eyes)

Charmaine:shocked) baby squeeze my hand again, can you do that for me?

Charmaine pov: Oliver squeezed my hand again and then eventually his eyes opened. He looked around the room very confused and then began cough because of the tube. I pressed the nurse button and then tried to calm him down so he wouldn't choke.

Charmaine:(cupping his face) hey hey, calm down. It's just a feeding tube. You're fine, everything is okay ...

Andrea: how your dad doing?

Chloe:(laying on her chest) he's trying to get better. He squeezed my hand today

Andrea: that's good, that's progress

Chloe:( nods) my mama been at his side, day and night. I'm worry about her. She needs some rest.

Andrea: yeah it's been about 2 and a half months now right

Chloe:yeah and she just had Josiah 2 weeks ago. She's over working herself

Andrea: well hopefully with him trying to wake up and she sees the progress she'll cut back some and get some rest

Chloe: I hope so

Charmaine pov: I watched the doctor examine Ollie's eyes and he was following them. After taking out his tube the began asking him questions to see if he could comprehend where he was. He still couldn't talk though, we could tell he was trying but no sound was coming out.

Doctor: do you know this beautiful lady right here ?( point to Charmaine)

Oliver: smiles a little and nods)

Doctor: can you tell me who she is?

Oliver: (trying to speak but nothing comes out)

Charmaine:(smiles) that's okay baby (holding his hand) you'll be speaking soon.

Doctor: good try Oliver, your know where you are ?

Oliver: (nods)

Oliver pov: waking up and seeing Charmaine there right by my side made me so happy. These last few months been horrible for us because we haven't been talking and for her to be by my side means the world to me and shows me that she still in love with me. Once the doctors and nurse left out she came and sat back next to my bed and held my hand. I wish I could talk to her though.

Charmaine: I've been here day and night since you got here. I didn't want to leave your side. (Tearing up) I thought I was gonna lose you and that was so scary for me. I didn't want to have to go through that. I didn't want our kids to experience that either. I would have went crazy without you. These last few months I was being so mean and pushing you away and I never realized how you could've been gone in a flash and I don't ever wanna think about that. I just want you to get better and come home. Be with me and our kids and let's fix our marriage

Oliver:(reaches up and wipes her tears)

Charmaine: I love you oliver I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

Oliver:(smiles)

Oliver pov: Charmaine smiled and that was the first time in months. She stood up and leaned over the bed and kissed me. When I tell y'all that made my heart skip a beat. I can't wait to get home to her and our kids.
