Running had always been a way for me to calm down when my thoughts became too much.

Or when my glucose levels got too high, it would help lower them a little.

Right now I was running because of my thoughts.

Pregnant.

I'm fucking pregnant.

Two weeks since I found out and I was still so shocked that my stomach flipped over when Fred and I would talk about it momentarily.

We were entering October soon, and I knew I was getting closer and closer to having to make some goddamn decision.

I ran and I ran and I ran, and I was sweating, and my mind was racing, but I just kept going.

I was out of breath, but I ran faster and faster.

I ran until I ran straight into someone and went tumbling onto a patch of grass. I grunted as I fell to my hands and knees, scraping my skin.

"Watch where you're fucking going." A voice growled, but I recognised that voice.

I lifted my head, and my eyes met Noah's. His eyebrows raised when he saw it was me, and he took a step back.

"Mavis?"

I inhaled sharply, and he stepped forward, helping me to my feet.

"What are you doing here?" He asked me.

"Uh..." I looked down at myself. "...running."

"Right." He breathed. "Well, how are you? It's been a while."

I nodded, folding my arms over my chest. I looked around at where we were standing, and then I looked at him again.

"Everything's fine with me. I'm doing great. Actually, I'm in a relationship now. With Fred."

"Fred? That guy with the red hair? Your brother's friend?"

I nodded.

"How did August react to that?" Noah laughed, and I shrugged.

"He wasn't happy, but Fred and I are both adults so..."

Noah offered me a soft smile, nodding in agreement.

"Why did you ghost me?" I asked, and he immediately dropped his eyes from mine. "Because of my brothers?"

"Yeah... I'm sorry, Mavis, but they're a little intense."

"I warned you." I scoffed. "Anyway, it's fine. I need to get going."

"Wait, Mavis!" He called after me as I started running again, but I didn't turn around.

He was just like everyone else, allowing my brothers to scare him off. He was my friend, and then he ghosted me.

I ran all the way home, and once I got inside, I walked to my room to grab some clothes, and then I took a shower in the bathroom.

Afterwards I tested my sugar levels, then went downstairs.

I walked into the sitting room, but I immediately stopped when I saw August on the sofas that girl Cassidy straddling his lap.

They were kissing.

A lot.

"Oh god!" I gagged.

They pulled away from each other, and they both looked at me.

"What is she doing here?" The girl asked, suddenly upset with August.

"Seriously?" I asked. "I'm his sister. I live here!"
