Sixty-five

"Are you fucking kidding me?"

Fred and I turned our attention to Reuben who stood in front of the fireplace, and a second later, Sarah stepped out too.

"This is the second time I miss a proposal." Reuben complained. "First Ronan, now you?"

He gestured towards me, and I couldn't help but laugh, while staying in Fred's embrace.

"Well, in case it makes you feel better, it wasn't supposed to have happened in front of anyone, but Ronan and Katy got here early."

"Yeah, we're sorry about that." Katy said, making a face, but I shook my head.

"This was the perfect story." I said and looked up at Fred. "Just wait 'till I tell Max."

He grinned and pressed a kiss to my lips before letting me go. He took Theodora from my arm and I walked towards Reuben and Sarah.

"Sarah!" I grinned, voice full of excitement as I hugged her.

"Ronan, do you see this shit?" Reuben asked. "She's more excited to see Sarah, than her own brother."

Sarah laughed while I rolled my eyes and then turned to hug my brother.

"Shut up. Her and Katy are the closest things I have to a sister."

Reuben cocked an eyebrow.

"Are you forgetting Flora and Eliza?"

I shoved him, letting out a small laugh.

"Flora is seventeen and Eliza is fifteen. They're both at Hogwarts and they're both teenagers. Sarah and Katy are the closest things I have to sisters who're around my own age."

This time, Ronan let out a small laugh.

"Katy is thirty-one, you do realise that, right?"

"Ronan!" Katy exclaimed and swatted his arm. "I'm not thirty-one... not for another week."

She walked across the room.

"I'm going to check on David and Phoebe." She said, disappearing into the hallway.

I looked down at my hand, still so dazed from what just happened.

To me, he had proposed at the perfect moment.

Me thinking he was joking, laughing about not wanting that to be our story, and then he pulls out the ring and asks me to marry him.

It was simple and it was unexpected.

I loved it.

Theodora's cries pulled me from my daze, and I looked up to see what was wrong.

"She just needs her diaper changed." Fred told me when he saw my face and the expression I always wore when she cried.

Fred walked towards the nursery, and I turned back around to face my brothers and Sarah.

"I'm engaged." I said.

Reuben snickered.

"Yeah, you are."

I looked down at my hand.

"About damn time." Ronan said while dropping onto the sofa. "You've been together for six years and you have two children, yet he hasn't proposed until now."

"Ronan, a lot of couples wait this many years until they get engaged." Sarah said while her and Reuben also took a seat on the sofa.

I walked over to grab Theodora's baby bouncer, putting it aside so no one would trip over it.
