I could hear the birds chirping away outside.

Fred must've opened the window at some point during the night when I actually managed to be asleep.

Now I was awake and it wasn't because I wanted to, but a certain unborn baby was sitting on my bladder and I had reached the point where I constantly had to pee.

With a sigh, I opened my eyes and reached for the small Nokia phone Fred had bought me about a week ago. I pushed the power button, and the small screen lit up, showing me the date and the time.

March 21st, 5:02.

Great. It was the middle of the night still. I had also woken up two hours ago to my bladder almost bursting.

I rarely got any sleep now that I was past the thirty-week mark.

Today actually marked thirty-one weeks. I had been pregnant for almost eight months.

It was funny, I had always thought you spent nine months pregnant, and technically you do, but forty weeks equals to ten months. The first month, you aren't actually pregnant, but you include your last period.

Pregnancy had taught me a lot, and I was grateful for that, but I was also getting so fucking tired of waking up every two hours to pee.

Finally I decided to see if there was anything in the fridge I wanted to eat.

I got out of bed yet again and Fred muttered something in his sleep that I couldn't hear. I left our bedroom and walked through the flat and into the kitchen slash living room.

I walked to the fridge, opened it and looked into it for a good five minutes before shutting it again. I moved onto the cupboard with the snacks and I found a bag of crisps.

I opened the bag and looked into it, looking for one of the folded ones. They were my favourite.

I walked back to the bedroom and sat on the bed, folding my legs as I ate the crisps. Fred slept peacefully next to me, but I had given up on getting anymore sleep.

It was five in the morning, and if I got tired later, I could just take a nap.

-

I must've fallen asleep anyway, because suddenly I woke up to the sound of a thump.

I quickly sat up, but I relaxed when I realised it was just Fred having stumbled over his own feet.

The bag of crisps laid on my stomach, and I grabbed it and put it back down on the nightstand.

"Morning, love." Fred shot me a soft smile and approached my side of the bed. "Did I wake you?"

I shrugged and stretched my arms above my head. "It's fine. I would've woken up either way."

I yawned and covered my mouth with my hand. Fred grabbed the bag of crisps, eyed it and cocked an eyebrow as he looked at me again.

"Shut up." I laughed. "I woke up at five and couldn't fall back sleep."

"I'm not judging." He shook his head and leaned down to press a kiss to my forehead.

He took the bag with him as he walked into the kitchen.

I slowly got out of bed and found some clothes before moving into the bathroom. I was so tired, but today we were finishing the nursery and I was excited.

Again, I was forcing Fred to not use magic. There was something special about putting together our daughters nursery, so I wanted us to actually do it, and spend time and energy on it.

I took a shower and washed my hair before getting into the underwear I had chosen, and the the long dark green maternity dress that showed off my pregnancy belly.
