The next morning, I woke up to my alarm which was always set to seven a.m.
I was a morning person, and I loved the feeling of early mornings. The air was different, and the silence was nice.
The first thing I did, was check my blood sugar levels. It was high like it usually was after waking up, but not as high as I would've expected it to.
I walked downstairs, still wearing the clothes I always slept in, and I stepped into the kitchen to get my insulin.
"Hi baby." Mum smiled at me as she poured herself a cup of coffee.
"Morning, mum." I offered her a faint smile as I walked over to the medicine cabinet.
I found one of the insulin pens and a needle before putting the needle in the pen. I turned on it until it was as set on the right unit.
"Fred is sleeping in the guest room." I said and turned around, leaning back against the cabinet while I squeezed the fat of my stomach, pressing the needle through my skin, and then I pushed the knob of the pen to make sure the insulin got delivered to my body.
"I'm guessing he and August went out last night." She said, taking a sip of her coffee.
"Yep. They got home at three in the morning and woke me up. I thought it was an intruder. I nearly killed Fred."
Mum raised her eyebrows, but then shook her head.
"Will you go get your brother something for the hangover?" She asked me. "And wake him up, please."
At that, Ronan marched into the kitchen, his hair a mess. He walked right for the medicine cabinet to get his own insulin.
"You seem cheerful." I said, and he shot me a look of annoyance which was my cue to leave the kitchen.
I walked across the hall and into the sitting room where August was asleep on the sofa, in the same position as last night.
"Mavis!" Mum called. "You forgot the aspirin!"
And I marched back to the kitchen, groaning as I found the bottle of aspirin. I grabbed two, and then filled a glass with water.
When I got back to the sitting room, I put it all down on the sofa table, and then grabbed a pillow, hitting August with it.
He groaned in his sleep, trying to push me away, but I hit him again. He muttered something against the sofa, moving his arm up to protect his arm as I hit him a third time.
He turned slightly, looking at me through narrowed eyes. "What the hell are you doing? Fuck off."
"You need to get up." I told him. "I brought you some water and aspirin for the headache."
While he pulled himself up to sit, I threw the pillow on the sofa, and then walked back out of the sitting room just as Fred came walking down the stairs, rubbing at his eyes.
