I meant to write more to this chapter, but I really wanted it out today so this is all.

My granddad just died so I don't really want to write more right now.

-

A few days later, I was still dying on the inside when thinking about the date, and the times we kissed.

Though I didn't have a lot of time to think about it, because my mum was on my back about finding a job.

It had been two months since graduating Hogwarts, and I needed to be able to help out at home.

My parents didn't charge a lot for rent, and they weren't going to charge me before I'm under the age of twenty-one.

They charge some of my brothers because they're as old as twenty-five and still living at home while being fully able to afford a place of their own.

But mum and dad wants me to get a job so I don't have to walk around at home all day every day.

It makes a person depressed, they say, so they're on my back about it.

Well, it's mostly just mum.

"For fuck sake, Mavis." Mum sighed as she looked at one of the letters that came with the post.

"What?" I asked, grabbing a bottle of water from the fridge.

"You didn't show up for the job interview I arranged for you?" She looked at me with her you-are-unbelievable look.

"Mum I don't want to work in an office." I sighed. "I can't just sit all day. I want to be on my feet and moving around."

"Then go apply at St. Mungo's!"

I shook my head.

"I don't have the right skills."

Mum took one deep breath, shutting her eyes. She placed her hands on the kitchen island, probably counting to ten in her head.

"Mavis, baby." She said after a moment, her voice suddenly calm again, and suddenly I was terrified.

She was way too calm right now.

"You had a plan when you started your sixth year and had to choose the classes you wanted, and you managed to get top grades. You can apply, you know."

I shook my head.

"Baby, if you keep an eye out on your diabetes, you will be able to work as an auror." She told me. "I know it's hard to oversee, but I can help you make a plan of things to do on a day-to-day basis."

"Mum, I'm not a child."

"No, but maybe it will help you. Ronan used to find it difficult as well. He didn't always have the energy to do certain things, but a to-do list helped him and now he always takes his insulin, and monitor his glucose levels."

I shut my eyes for a moment, pinching the bridge of my nose.

Then I unscrewed the cap on the water, taking a long sip.

"You've always wanted to be an auror. Ever since you were a little girl."

"It's three more years of school."

"So?" She asked. "You survived seven years in Scotland. I think you'll survive three more."

"But—"

"I will help you make your life easier with the diabetes, and you'll apply to school so you can become an auror."

I stared at the floor for a minute, but then nodded.

"Fine."

And I walked out of the kitchen before she could say anything else.
