Three weeks later, I turned eighteen.
When I walked into the kitchen that morning, my entire family was up and the kitchen was decorated with balloons and other birthday decorations like they did for every single birthday.
We also each had our own banner that would be hung up in the kitchen.
Then we all ate breakfast together and I'd open presents in their company.
I hadn't seen Fred since the day of the bonfire. He hadn't come around since then, and it irritated me.
I had thought about our kiss a lot and suddenly he just didn't come around anymore.
I didn't know if it was because he realised I truly was too young, if it was because I had yet to turn eighteen.
It had been a couple of days since my birthday. It was Saturday, and tonight my family hosted a charity event.
My family always hosted those right after a child had turned eighteen. The child chose the cause and I had chosen a charity that focused on diabetes.
I wasn't helping getting everything ready, because I was the face for tonight. All I had to do was get dressed tonight and then show up.
"Do you believe there is anything out there we don't know about?" I asked Noah as he and I sat on the brick wall surrounding one of the schools near his flat.
I liked asking him about his theories to see if he had the smallest idea that magic was real. It was fun knowing a muggle.
"Like what? Aliens?" He asked and took a bite of the sandwich he bought earlier.
"Nah... more like witches and wizards."
Noah snorted, looking at me as he chewed.
"Witches are a thing, you know. There are literally witches walking around among us."
And my eyes widened slightly.
"Have you never met one?" He asked. "They love herbs and they believe in ghosts and Satan and shit like that. You've never met one?"
Oh, he's not talking about my kind, the real kind.
"I have." I nodded. "Well, I haven't met one, but I've heard of them."
"You know they used to burn women if she was perceived as a witch." He told me. "If a woman could read or spell. If she could do anything only a man was supposed to do, she'd be burned for being a witch."
Muggles were weird.
"I meant if you believed there existed witches and wizards with wands that could do magic and shit."
Noah cocked an eyebrow, and his lips spread into a wide grin.
