"I'm so sorry we have to go." Henry said, pleading to Alice. Alice looked at him in shock, her martini still in her hand.

"What? We just got here. What's wrong?" She asked, concern edging in her voice, she knew Henry didn't like parties, but he was usually fine with a tonic water. He also was a fan of the people, so he wasn't typically begging to leave like this. Then Alice saw William standing behind Henry, his arms crossed tightly in front of his chest. Alice rose an eyebrow, making sure Henry saw that she had noticed William.

"We need to get some work done. You've already had one drink..." Alice watched Henry's face blanch as he knew he said something wrong. Alice hated being rushed, she was a social butterfly, she flourished in loud and exciting environments. William rolled his eyes and adjusted his jaw in annoyance. Alice scowled at him when he looked back at her, his silver gaze burning into hers. Neither backed down first.

A cold hand gently rested on Alice's bare shoulder, causing her to turn around. It was Laura, dressed in a beautiful, red cocktail dress, her heels made her at least 5'10, which she knew annoyed William who hated looking shorter compared to her. Alice thought Laura looked like a goddess.

"Then leave. We're going to stay, though. Henry, William will just ride with you." Laura said. Her voice was as cold as her hand, but reasonable. Henry pursed his lips before sighing.

"Sure..." He mumbled, William's hand looped through his arm and they disappeared in the crowed. Alice flushed, embarrassed. She didn't care if her husband was gay, but they were still married. William seemed to have just given up on disguising their affair altogether.

"Let them go. They were annoying me anyways." Laura said, rolling her eyes and perching on the bar stool next to Alice, spinning to face her. They looked at each other soft smiles rising on their lips. "It's obnoxious, anyways. Why don't they just divorce us already, right?" Laura always joked so openly about it, it was her way of coping. Deep down she knew she wasn't used to rejection and she doubly wasn't used to having to sleep in the same bed as her husband who's fucking her best friends husband, but whatever.

"Honestly." Alice sighed, the music pounded around them. She tilted her head back, the rest of her drink burning down her throat. It was actually really good, fruity and sweet.  Laura grinned and flagged the bartender, getting Alice another and getting herself one as well.

"Lighten up, they're gone now and it's just us basically single women here all by ourselves." Laura whispered, slipping her hand into Alice's. "Who's here to stop us anyways?" She giggled and Alice felt her cheeks warm. She remembered the way Laura's warmth felt around her, her fingers inside of her. She squeezed Laura's hand, grinning back in the same reassuring way.

They stayed for a while, but didn't drink that much, they were too busy talking. They were always together but there was always something new to talk about together. Laura's life sounded like a soap opera and Alice drank up every word. Compared to the conversations that she would have with Henry, which she usually just sat through brutally confused, Laura was a breath of fresh air. Fresh, expensive scented air.

"Let's go, it's getting boring." Laura said all of a sudden, standing up and holding out a dainty hand. Alice took it, her dark skin a contrast to Laura's pale skin. Her hand's were soft. Alice looked into her eyes and felt something stir in her stomach, Laura was really too beautiful.

"Sure, where to?" Alice prompted, not letting go of Laura's hand. She was finding too much comfort in it. The bartender had begun to stare at them with too much interest so Alice was just as eager to leave.

"Assuming William took Henry back to my bed, we'll go to your house." Laura suggested, a forced smile on her face. Alice did feel bad for her as it was her house where Henry and William usually went.
