Disclaimer, I love my Scotty bear, he is baby, he is precious, but he is a bitch.
"Mr. Callahan, please, I can't go back to the night shift tonight. I can't do it, I almost died!" Diana sobbed, standing limp in front of Scott, staring desperately into the red rotary phone he wore on his head.
"But you didn't. It could be worse. I can't help you." He said blandly and turned to leave. Diana let out another cry before following after him.
"Please, sir! I can't do it, you can't send me back!"
"I'm sorry, but you lived did you not? You're not dead are you? Unfortunately, I can't not let you do the rest of your allotted time." Scott shrugged. "Unless you can find somebody to finish it for you, I. Can't. Help. You." He turned in the other direction and left. Diana stood with her lips parted and tears slipping down her face as she watched him walk away. As she left the back hallway to renter the main dining room, she ran into Dave. She perked up slightly.
"Mr. Miller!" She called.
"Ah, hello... Diana? Right?" He asked, turning to her.
"Yes. Is there anyway that you can pick up the rest of my night shift... it's only two more days, I can't go back, please." She begged him, but he blanched and his silver eyes widened.
"I'm sorry, kid. I can't help you." He said, shaking his head and spinning quickly to leave.
"Please! I'll pay you double my salary, please!" She begged, but Dave only shook his head again.
"I have no use for your money, Diana. Best of luck, though." Diana whimpered as she watched him go.
Thirty minutes later, now from Afton's perspective... ish
"Why don't you let the kid take off the rest of the shift, she's scared and it's only two more days." Afton told Scott as they were walking down the hallway together.
"Are you willing to pick up the rest of her shift?" Scott asked, without looking down at Afton. He was scribbling on his clipboard again.
"No... no I'm not." Afton replied sullenly, feeling guilt tug at him.
"That's what I thought. And look. She's not dead. Yet..." He mumbled. Afton frowned and looked down at his feet.
"She could die, Scott. She's young." He argued, stopping right before a little table which was shoved against the wall.
"Well maybe she should have considered that before applying for that position. Listen, I told her if she could get someone to cover her shift, then I would let her. That's the only way, and I'm not going to hear any more on that subject, Afton." Scott spat, throwing the clipboard down on the table. Afton scowled at being spoken to in that tone. As Scott was walking away from him, Afton checked the clipboard. There was a check missing from beside his name, under a task he had already done.
"Scott, why isn't this checked off?" He called after him. Scott looked over his shoulder.
"Maybe you should try a little harder." And then he turned the corner and left. Afton's eyes widened and his lips turned up into a scowl. How fucking dare he.
An hour later, idk I'm not good with time plots
Afton stood in the parts and service room, working on loosening Freddie's arm joint, because it was too stiff during his last performance. He had AirPods in and was totally zoned out, doing what he worked on best. He didn't hear Scott come in, so when he felt arms around his waist, Afton jumped slightly, and Scott rested his head on his shoulder, his phone mask was off. Afton ignored him and kept working. Scott squeezed him tighter.
