What better way, then to just jump right into this, no?
===========================================================================
Afton was bent over his desk furiously scribbling with a number two pencil mumbling things to himself in his British accent. Numbers and equations were filling up the paper and he sat back and tapped his lips with the eraser. He shook his head and bent back over scratching out lines of numbers forgetting his pencil had an eraser. The light from the lamp next to him was just enough to see the code forming at the bottom of the page and the endo-skeleton leering in the corner.
Henry watched from his desk on the other end of the work shop. His blonde hair was flopped in his face and his glasses were slipping down his nose. He pushed them back up and flipped his hair back with a flick of his neck. He loved it when Afton got so immersed in his work. Something about it sent butterflies in his stomach. He, too, was working but not on coding, that really wasn't his thing. Sure he's done it before, but his partner was better at it, more efficient and it made the robots seem even more lifelike. Henry was better at assembling the robots, putting the limbs together and circuits and servos in the right spots. He jumped when Afton spun around in his chair and faced him.
"What am I going to do?" Afton said rolling his eyes and dropped his head in his hands.
"What's wrong?" Henry always felt like his typical American accent was bland and boring compared to Afton's, who sounded like he was straight from the streets of England.
"I just can't get these equations right. I feel like I'm missing something, or maybe messed something up at the beginning, but right now I'm lacking the motivation to check."
"Oh... I don't know if I can help with that, but I'd love to check to see if I can find your problem." Henry said sliding back his chair and walking over. The thought of standing that close to Afton made him jittery even though he's done it a hundred times.
"Would you kindly?" Afton laughed scooting over and pointed to the paper. His handwriting was nice, but it wasn't chicken scratch either, it was perfectly imperfect.
Henry was looking over the math, tapping lightly on a calculator and dragging a gentle finger down each row of numbers. He would occasionally hum and scribble over something. Afton kept glancing over, looking down at his pale, slender hands and then at Henry's tan masculine ones. He bit his lip and reached out with a shaky palm. Afton lightly brushed the top of Henry's hand with his own. It was soft, exactly how Afton imagined it.
Henry's heart stopped beating and he looked down at Afton, still seated in the chair. He was staring at Henry's hand in a sort of awe. He hadn't moved his hand either.
"Oh please tell me you didn't think I would notice your staring, Henry?" Afton purred below him, Henry pulled his hand away and frowned. He watched Afton stand up too his full height. Henry was only 5"9 which wasn't too short, but compared to Afton's 6 foot, he immediately felt intimidated. Maybe it was the aura Afton produced.
"n-no its not that!" Henry argued, furrowing his brows.
"Of course it isn't..." Afton had begun to raise his hand without Henry noticed and at that moment, he put it just on Henry's lower back and pulled him just an inch closer. He sighed and smiled softly. "I just love your handwriting, Henry." Henry was visibly flustered and his face was red, but he made no move to complain.
"Afton what are you doing?" Henry asked in a shaky and unstable voice.
"Only what your eyes were asking for." He responded, looking down at his friend. He leaned down ever so slightly and kissed his forehead with soft lips. The heat immediately went to Henry's face who blushed darkly and looked up with startled eyes. Afton pulled Henry in the rest of the way until their hips were touching and Afton kissed his forehead again. Henry made a choking sound and stiffened.
