Adam groaned as he woke up. There was a sharp, tight pain in his stomach. It wasn't that of sickness, no. That had the distinct quality of having an out, whereas this did not. He couldn't throw up whatever was plaguing him and feel better a few hours later, no. He couldn't even fall asleep cause the pain was so bad.
Feeling overheated, he unzipped his orange top and threw it to the side, then removed his pants so he was wearing nothing but his boxers. Technically speaking, prisoners weren't supposed to take off their clothes, but it was the middle of the night and no one really cared. "Fuck" he muttered to himself, wishing the tightness would just go away. Sam turned over in his cot, the faint noises pulling him from his light sleep.
"Adam?"
"Hey" Adam replied tensely, feeling awful. "Uh, my- Ow!" he leaned forward in agony as a particularly bad cramp struck him. "Fuck"
"You good over there, buzzcut?" Sam asked, sitting up and looking over at him in the dark, only to be met with the sight of his cellmate mostly naked and doubled over in pain. "Oh shit, are you okay?"
"What does it look like, asshole?"
"Can I help?"
"Do you have medicine?" Adam asked sarcastically. No one did, not here. The only time anyone got medicine is if it was prescribed or they managed to get enough money to get the insanely marked-up, expired Advil they sold in the shop.
"What hurts?"
"My stomach"
"You gotta puke or shit or somethin'?"
"God, I wish" Adam groaned out, tears coming to his eyes as a purely physical response to the pain he was in. Sam frowned before slowly getting up out of his cot and sitting next to his cellmate across the room. "It hurts so bad"
"Would it help if I rubbed your stomach?" A nod. "Okay, lean back"
Sam pressed his palm into Adam's stomach area and gently rubbed circles. The shorter man sighed, feeling slight relief. "You're a gem, Sammy"
"Yeah, whatever"
