(Twice)
AN: Uhhh. This kinda got off prompt a lot. I'll probably rewrite this to only focus on the height difference.
Tzuyu watched from her seat as you struggled to reach the high shelf. She remained in her seat as you got on the tip toes and barely brush the spine of the album you were going to get. You continued attempting to reach the album but you were still short to actually grab it. When she saw that you were about to climb the bookshelf, she stood up and made her way over to you.
"You could've tipped the shelf over."
She tells you as she stands behind you to reach for the album you had been trying to reach for the past few minutes. You let out a quiet gasp when she presses herself against your back.
"D..don't do that!"
You gently pushed her away from you and took the album you had been wanting to get.
"What? Help someone in need?"
You rolled your eyes and turned around to walk away from her. She might've helped you reach your item but you didn't owe her a conversation. Especially with how cocky she was being.
"Whatever. Thanks anyway."
Tzuyu grabbed your hand to pull you back to her. You nearly tripped on your feet from the sudden pull. As you regain your balance, she takes this opportunity to grab the album she had gotten for you. She laughs when she realizes which one you had grabbed.
"Twice? You don't look like someone who listens to them."
"I can listen to whatever I want. Not that it's any of your business but this is for me friend."
Tzuyu had doubts about this friend existing but then again you didn't seem to recognize who she was.
"Really? Give me a second."
Digging through her bag, she pulls out a sharpie. Your eyes widen when you realize what she's about to do. You attempt to pull it away from her but she moves it out of reach.
"That was the last copy! What are you doing?!"
You didn't care that various patrons of the shop were looking in your dictionary. Your priority was getting the album before she ruined it any further. You're eventually only able to reach it when she lowers it.
"I'm simply making your gift better."
You stared at her in disbelief. You seriously couldn't understand how this girl was so full of herself.
"By writing down your number?! How could this possibly be a better gift?!"
She's smiling as she puts the sharpie away.
"Just tell her to give the number a call. I promise you that you'll be the best friend ever."
You wanted to give this girl a piece of your mind but she walked out before you could say anything. You hurried to pay for the ruined album in hopes to catch her but she had already left when you went out.
X
You can't breathe from the tight hug that your friend is giving you. You were happy that she had liked the gift but you couldn't understand how excited she could be over an album that had been ruined.
"How did you get this, (y/n)?! Is it real?"
"Of course, it's real! I got it at that shop you love so much."
"Why didn't you tell me!? Why did you keep it a secret?"
"Uh, because it was supposed to be a gift. Why would I tell you about your present?"
"Ow! What the hell?" You tell her when she hits you. "Why did you hit me?"
"Stop being funny. I meant the signature! Why didn't you tell me that you met Tzuyu?"
"Who?" She rolls her eyes and opens the phonebook to the page of Tzuyu's section. Squinting your eyes, you scrutinize all her features. The girl on the picture was definitely the girl you had met. "Ohhh. I guess I did. I should probably tell you that she told me to tell you to give the number a call."
Your friend doesn't waste any time to dial the number on the album. It takes a second but eventually someone answers.
"Is this Tzuyu?!"
She hears a chuckle from the speaker and then she's suddenly getting a FaceTime call. She starts to panic when she realizes she's about to meet Tzuyu.
"You're not going to answer?"
"No! I can't answer. I'm going to make a fool out of myself. I mean it's Tzuyu."
You have to bite your tongue to stop yourself from telling her about what had happened at the shop.
"Riiiight. Give it to me."
You take a seat besides her and hold the phone up so that the two of you were on the screen. When you're sure that your friend had calmed down, you answered.
"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!"
Your friend is greeted by what you assume is 4/9 of the group. The sixth of you have a short conversation that mainly involved wishing your friend a happy birthday. After a while, they bid you goodbye and the calls ends.
"I can't believe that really happened. I'm going to tell everyone."
You laugh as she rushes to join her family in the living room. Her room is quiet until the silence is cut by your friends ringtone. You frown when you realize it was the same number that Tzuyu had given you. Curious to know what she could want, you answer.
"I was hoping you were the one would answer."
You roll your eyes when you see her face again.
"And what were you going to do if I hadn't answered?"
"Beg for your number?"
"My number? What do you want with my number?"
"So that I can talk to you!"
"And why should I talk to you? You're annoying. All you've done is annoy me since we met."
She pouts at your answer.
"But I did something nice for your friend. You kinda owe me."
"So that's how it's going to be?"
She panics when she thinks that she had upset you.
"I'm kidding! You don't owe me anything but I'd really like to get to know you. I think you're cute."
You think about it before you start to list your number. You can't help but laugh when you watch her struggle to find a pen to write your number.
"It's a good thing that you're cute too."
She winks as she gives you a wide smile.
"I knew you were playing hard to get."
You roll your eyes and let your thumb hover the 'End Call' button.
"Goodnight Tzuyu.'
