(TWICE)
It's late at night and you're barely closing up your parents shop. It wasn't common for you to stay so late but apparently the last customer of the day refused to take his meal to go. Not wanting to argue with someone, you just let him stay and began to clean up for the night.
With him gone, you turn on your music and begin to clean up. Your peace only lasts for a few shorts minutes before you're startled by someone knocking on the window of the restaurant. Thinking that you're about to get robbed, you tightly grip the mop and turn around ready to defend your parents business.
Your eyes widen in surprise to find a woman holding up a large bill against the window. You would've turned her away, pointed to the shop's schedule and called it a day but you couldn't. It was raining, the woman had gotten wet, her makeup had been ruined and she desperately looked like she needed a hug.
You hurried to let her in and immediately handed her a towel.
"I'm so sorry. Please forgive me." You're not sure if she's referring to the mess she's making or the fact that she's coming in after the shop has closed. "I just couldn't go home and this was the only shop open."
"It's fine. I would like to think people would do the same for me."
You motion for her to follow you as you led her to the kitchen. While she dries herself off, you look through the supply closet for some clothes she could change into. There wasn't any spare uniforms but you did find your duffle bag with the clothes you had on before clocking in.
"Let a wet stranger dirty their shop's floor after they closed?"
You laugh as you hand her your duffle bag.
"Exactly. This is all I could find. You should change before you catch something. The restroom is through there."
You point down the hallway the two of you had just walked through.
"Seriously. Thank you...." She squints as she looks down to read your name tag. "(y/n)."
"It's my pleasure. Now hurry. My mother will kill me if I let someone get sick on my watch."
With a gentle push from you, the woman makes her way to the restroom. While she changes, you hurry to mop the wet trail she had left behind and get to work on making her your shops specialty. It's almost done by the time she walks out.
"It smells delicious."
You smile when you hear her through the kitchen doors. Walking in, you could immediately she was feeling better than when she had walked in.
"I hope so. It's our special."
"You really didn't have to make it. I would've just settled for some bread and gone on my way."
After placing the finishing touches on the noddles, you're careful to bring both plates over to the counter.
"I didn't know that you're a duck."
"And what if I am?"
You roll your eyes as the two of you take a seat on the barstools.
"Then I suppose I have a story to tell my parents about the time I fed a duck who can transform into a woman."
She laughs at your words making your heart flutter. The woman's laugh was something you wanted to hear again.
"That'll certainly be a story to tell. Thanks again for the noddles. I really need this."
The woman was a stranger, you weren't sure if asking her what was troubling her a good idea. As you watched her happily eat her noddles, you figured it was better to not ask about it. The two of you had a quiet conversation, simply talking about random things until eventually both of your plates were finished.
