Song for Chapter: He Won't Go - Adele (This song is my FAVOURITE Adele song of all time!)
LOUIS POV
"You are extremely lucky no one pressed charges against you Mr. Tomlinson." His voice was deep and slow and his suit was the perfect fit. We sat across a long wooden desk in his office.
"I don't give a shit how lucky I am. Can you tell me why I was called in to this law firm so I can leave already?" I was bored. I was ready to start fresh, escape for a while so I can recooperate and find what I want, who I want. I missed Leah dearly. She's the only reason why I am doing this - leaving my job for a while- she was right when she told me I needed a break, but she wasn't right to leave me. I guess I'm just as bad as Harry and Jessie. I need someone the way they do, but doesn't everyone?
"Alright, Mr. Tomlinson." He loosens his tie with his hands, obviously still sleepy due to this 8 am meeting. "You were called in because I used to represent your father."
"...And?" Just the thought of him sent a cold deep into my bones.
"He had a record of recent heart attacks in the last few months leading up to his death so before his passing he set a meeting with me."
"Get to the point."
"You and your sister Jessie were left with all of his earnings."
"How much are we talking?"
"12 million dollars."
JESSIE POV
A phone call woke me from my deep sleep. My head was rested on Harry's chest, our legs entangled between one another. I didn't want to get up, but I assumed it was Zayn asking where I had been, so I slip from Harry. My body little moves along the bed as I grab my phone on the end table, his hands wrap around my torso pulling me back into his comfort.
"You need to get to The Law Firm on Jane and 4th now." Louis' voice was urgent and worried.
"That's on the other side of town. It'll take me at least 45 minutes with morning traffic."
"Just get here as fast as possible, it's about your dad."
"Our dad." His line hung up immediatly, as if ignoring the inevitable was automatic for him.
I felt Harry kiss my shoulder as I set my phone back down. "Good Morning." He whispers in kisses. His lips soft, like his hands. And I could feel the heat warping us together in a hug under the blankets.
"I have to tell you something." His voice changed from soft to restrained as I turn to face him.
"What is it? I have to go and meet Louis in about an hour."
"Could I come?"
"It's about my dad but alright. What did you have to tell me?"
"My mother is going to pass soon. I've been fighting with the home to keep her on life support and with a full time nurse but I don't have the money for it. The past few weeks up until you went to visit I was meeting with the bank for a loan but they won't loan me anything. I don't know what to do."
He looked so stressed and scared, his eyebrows were furrowed and his lips pulled in between his teeth in concern. I knew I had enough money to help him, my mother left me all she had, but I hadn't told him I was well off, and I never spent my mother's money anyways. Every time I did I felt like a peace of her was wasted away in materialistc things. I know it's selfish of me and although I want to help Harry, I can't. Or could I? Surely my mother would want her money spent to help others. But honestly, I didn't want too. Not because I didn't want to help Harry, but because I know if I saved his mother he would feel safe enough now that she would be healthy to leave me. Maybe if she was still sick he would stay around a little longer, I can't let him go.
