Kai POV

I was floating in a void of black.

Kai: What the actual hell... Where am I?

Darkseid: I helped you, now I take my leave so that I can carry out my plans.

I couldn't see him. And his voice came from everywhere. I felt powerless. I could do nothing. Which meant that he was getting stronger.

Kai: Just leave Pyra and Mythra alone.

Darkseid: Ah, yes. The girlfriend and the illicit crush. You seriously love them both? The two of them together will rip you to shreds before I ever do.

Kai: I don't know. I'm fairly sure that Mythra likes me back. And there's no way that Pyra doesn't know because their bond is not dissimilar to ours.

He was quiet after that one for quite a while.

Darkseid: Get out of here.

And then my eyes opened. The Ether Accelerator was very obviously ruined, smoking and crumbling in most places. Not to mention that I was still falling. Oh.

Kai: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

I landed on the ground hard. The wind made the hastiest exit from my lungs that I had experienced in what was probably a long time.

Kai: *wheezes*

Pyra: Kai!!

I was suddenly shadowed by Pyra as she knelt down next to me. The others must have freed her while I was... out...

Kai: I'm fine. I'm good.

I gave Pyra a quick kiss.

Kai: Alright. What gives? You went through all that just to kill Pyra? For what?

The king looked at the ground for a second before gathering his resolve.

Eulogimenos: Five hundred years... For five hundred years, we Tantalese have concealed the Omega Fetter... Do you know why?

Kai: Get on with it. I'm out of patience after all of this.

He ignored me, pressing on.

Eulogimenos: Our old homeland, Torna, was destroyed in the Aegis War. Our hero, Addam, also failed to return... You must understand, old Torna as a country was united around the Hero. But our ancestors, less so...

Mòrag: Legends of the hero who saved the world are deeply ingrained in people's hearts... And you used them for your own political agenda?

Kai: I love politics...

Nia: So did this Addam guy really never return?

Eulogimenos: Indeed... The records indicate he went missing immediately after sealing away the Aegis. It is likely he simply perished during the journey home.

There was a moment of silence. Letting that info sit heavy in the air for a minute.

Pyra: He didn't just go missing.
