Happy? (Part 1)

This doesn't fit in with any kind of loose storyline that these chapters follow but when I got the suggestion from SirenaStyx I knew I had to do this chapter because it was way too good not to. So no-one panic the chapters aren't ending and this isn't the final one lol. It also ended up super long so split into two parts for an easier read.

As you walk away from Eddies trailer that evening you fight back the tears. Graduation had only been a month ago and already you felt your life was falling apart.
As soon as you'd told your parents your plan of staying in Hawkins and getting a job to stay with Eddie until he graduated they hit the roof.
You can still hear them telling you you're throwing your life away over a boy, what if you didn't get into any colleges after this year?
Deep down you knew they were right but the thought of leaving Eddie made you feel empty, no degree or future prospects compared to him.

As soon as that acceptance letter from UCLA hit the doormat you knew your fate was sealed. Your mom had intercepted it first so there was no way you could have lied, your parents were shipping you off to California wether you liked it or not. You'd been putting this off for weeks, lying to him everytime he'd asked if you'd been accepted yet. The longer you lied the longer you had with him and your heart was already breaking at the thought, the actual conversation being had was too much to comprehend.
You didn't even call ahead to Eddies before you walked there, you could have driven but the need to clear your head first was too hard to ignore.
You thought of everything you were going to say and any scenario in which this wouldn't spell the end of your relationship but you already knew, Eddie had made it very clear he didn't believe in long distance, he'd talked about Mike and El more than enough for you to know this is it.

The walk felt both shorter than usual and the longest thing you've ever done. As you step up to his door you knock softly and Eddie answers, surprised to see you but already knowing the look on your face means it isn't good news.

The hours that followed were gut wrenching. You told him the acceptance letter came and your parents weren't giving you a choice. In a few weeks you were going to California and there was nothing either of you could do.
He'd said he'd speak to your parents, he'd beg the school to let him graduate, he'd run away. Anything he could think of but both of you knew it was clutching at straws.
There were tears and anger from both sides but ultimately the mutual decision to end things here and now was made and now you were walking home again, away from Eddie and everything you thought you would have forever.

10 months later
************

"Y/N Ross is here!" Caitlin, your sorority sister, shouts upstairs.
Your shoulders sag and your stomach drops, making you sigh into the phone.
"Everything ok?" The voice on the other end asks.
"Yeah. My boyfriends here so I have to go. So you're definitely coming? And you'll bring Jeff and Eddie?" You ask.
"For the tenth time yes, we're all coming. We're all excited to see you, especially Eddie" Gareth responds.
You can't help but smile, this was the biggest party Kappa Delta had thrown since you started and you should be excited for it but truthfully there was only one thing you were excited for.

Eddie was going to come.

As soon as you'd found out it wasn't just UCLA students that could go, you could invite anyone, the first people you wanted was Eddie, Gareth and Jeff. No question. It had felt weird calling Eddie directly so Gareth had seemed the easiest route. He said as soon as he asked them they agreed immediately, he said it's the first time he's seen Eddie smile in months.
