Carrie

It has been almost five minutes since I started reading my book in Sociology to review for the final exams next week. Well, I ended up just pretending to read it since I couldn't help but to feel conscious especially with Gideon roaming inside our house like a lost child in a museum.

I suppressed the cringe from showing through my face. Kanina pa siya comment nang comment at tanong nang tanong tungkol sa bawat part at design ng salas, starting from the ceiling five meters above down to the Rosa Aurora marble-tiled floor which he claimed to be the same as their kitchen flooring.

I turned my head to him who was standing by the wall on the west, opposite the couch where I sat. He flashed his seemingly innocent but obviously forced wide smile, waiting for my answer.

"That's Circles in a Circle by Kandinsky.

I shook my head slightly upon hearing that, but I doubt if he noticed.

"Actually, I like geometry and arts, so perfect 'tong painting na 'to sa taste ko. Very surrealistic."

I noticed that Gideon tried very hard to compliment the house and relate it to himself by saying that he likes the design, but at this point, I am sure that he's kind of faking it, since mali-mali naman ang terminologies niya.

When I met him almost two weeks ago, I found him to be a bit pompous but still tolerable. I witnessed how nervous he can be on the roller coaster, at it overshadowed the arrogant side of him.

But when he showed up here along with a certain someone, his actions confirmed to me that he's worse that what he had shown on our first meeting.

The awkward scene which happened just less than an hour ago flashed in my mind again.

"Make him some coffee, Carrie. He's my visitor."

He confidently walked through the door and removed his sunglasses then ran his hand through his messy orange hair reeking with a hairspray's chemical scent. He then smirked at me as if his entrance was worthy of a dramatic montage.

I was then left alone with a smiling Gideon dressed in clothes the same color as my highlighters.
