"AT THIS POINT, we can still scrap everything we shot yesterday since two scenes lang naman, but if roles will be switched, kailangan maayos na talaga lahat. We can't afford to prolong our stay here and the budget is limited." Zion's voice resonated throughout the dining hall as he shifted his sight around everyone before settling his gaze on a single person-Dwight.
"Do you want to step down from your role, Mr. Rios? We need a final and direct answer right now."
Lahat kami ay nakatingin ngayon kay Dwight na nakahalumbaba lang. An awkward silence emerged as we waited for his response.
He ran his tongue around the inside of his cheeks and unexpectedly darted his eyes at me before we heard his voice.
"I'm not backing out."
Everyone stood silent, maybe because that was not the answer they were expecting. Hindi ko naman mapangatawanan ang pakikipagtitigan kay Dwight kaya lumingon ako sa nakatayong si Chantal na nakatutok pa rin ang mga mata kay Dwight.
"Okay, so that's it. Everyone will remain as their initial roles except Miss Chen who declined the Aleisha Cuevas role and Santiago who will replace her. Si Miss Chen na ngayon ang gaganap kay Aiko Andres," Zion announced with a sense of finality. "May gusto pa bang magpalit ng role?" pahabol niya.
"Me."
Napalingon naman kaming lahat sa pinagmulan ng boses: si Yulio. Dahan-dahan niyang ibinaba ang kaliwang kamay na nakataas.
"Pero... wala kang role, Yulio. What are you-"
"I want my role back. I want to play as Jae Soriano," seryosong sagot ni Yulio. This is the first time I'm seeing his face with such determination and his voice rang with an authoritative tone. Nagkatinginan na lang kami ni Chantal na nakaupo sa tapat ko.
"Do you really need to do that? Paano si Mr. Arevalo?"
Lumipat ang tingin ko kay Jasper na nasa kanang gawi ko lang. Kita kong napalunok siya habang nakatingin kay Yulio.
"Kayo na ang bahalang ayusin 'yan. Hindi naman talaga siya kasali rito, eh. Siguro deserve ko rin namang magkaroon ng role kasi pinagamit ko na nga 'tong villa namin nang libre, 'di ba?"
Suddenly, Yulio exuded arrogance-or was it just a strong desire? I saw Zion lick his lips while seemingly thinking about the situation at hand.
"Fine. You will be Jae Soriano, Yulio. I'm very sorry but Mr. Arevalo, you're-"
"Jasper can have my role." Icarus suddenly joined the discussion which took our attention. "I know that he really wants to have a character and to be fair, he's the actual former child actor here so why not give him the role he deserves? After all, I don't have much experience in acting."
I glanced at Jasper and he was visibly confused and somehow anxious about the sudden changes with the casting. Everyone else's faces were painted with anticipation to what was coming down, with Yulio's expression gradually softening and Icarus smiling faintly at Jasper while shifting his eyes between him and Zion.
