Savannah couldn't quite believe what was happening. As a little girl she'd always dreamt that her wedding would be the best day of her life. She really didn't know how to feel about this.

Sure, she was willingly marrying Seb, and she did have feelings for him, even if she didn't know what they were yet, but she had no idea how he felt about her. All she knew was marrying him was the right thing to do for everyone involved. She had no idea why he'd sprung this surprise wedding on her instead of waiting for April like they'd agreed, but at the end of the day it didn't really matter. All that mattered were the smiles on their kids' faces, the smile on Seb's face. If they were happy, so was she.

Now halfway through the ceremony she was beginning to realise the enormity of what they were doing. Seb was going to be her husband!

"Sebastian, do you take Savannah to be your wife? Do you promise to love, honor, cherish, and protect her, forsaking all others, and holding only unto her forevermore?" said the tall, fifty something male marriage celebrant.

"I do," Seb replied, his voice loud and confident. Savannah began to shake with nerves.

"Savannah, do you take Sebastian to be your husband? Do you promise to love, honor, cherish, and protect him, forsaking all others, and holding only unto him forevermore?"

Savannah opened her mouth to speak but no words came out. She looked at Seb. He smiled at her reassuringly. You can do this. You can do this. Just breathe Savannah, breathe, she told herself.

"I do." Seb smiled at her again.

"Sebastian and Savannah will now exchange rings as a symbol of love and commitment to each other. Rings are a precious metal; they are also made precious by you wearing them. Your wedding rings are special; they enhance who you are. They mark the beginning of your long journey together. Your wedding ring is a circle—a symbol of love never ending. It is the seal of the vows you have just taken to love each other without end."

All the words of love were beginning to make Savannah feel like a fraud.  Their marriage had nothing to do with love, not that kind of love anyway.  If you looked at it carefully though it was everything to do with love, she and Seb were both doing this because they loved their children.

"Sebastian, please place the ring on Savannah's left hand and repeat after me...As a sign of my love."

"As a sign of my love."

"That I have chosen you."

"That I have chosen you."

"Above all else."

"Above all else."

"With this ring, I thee wed."

"With this ring, I thee wed."

Seb slipped the narrow, white gold band he'd chosen in Austin the previous day onto Savannah's ring finger.

"And Savannah, please place the ring on Sebastian's left hand and repeat after me...As a sign of my love."

"As a sign of my love."

"That I have chosen you."

"That I have chosen you."

"Above all else."

"Above all else."

"With this ring, I thee wed."

"With this ring, I thee wed."

Savannah tried to slide Seb's ring onto his finger but her hands were shaking so much that it got stuck halfway. She laughed nervously and took a deep breath before trying again. This time it slid straight on.
