Savannah gave a loud yawn as she reached out to switch the kettle on. She looked out of the kitchen window but it was still dark outside so she couldn't see a thing, apart from the raindrops that had splattered on the pane.

She stood waiting as the water heated up, the sound of the kettle and the ticking of the kitchen clock the only sounds she could hear. The kids were all fast asleep.

This time last year she'd have never have contemplated getting up at this ungodly hour to watch twenty cars going around in weirdly shaped circles, but this time last year she hadn't been in love with a racing driver.

She took a mug out of the cupboard and spooned some hot chocolate powder into it.   A coffee might have been better for helping her to stay awake but since they were now actively trying for a baby she'd decided to limit her caffeine intake.

She smiled as she remembered Seb's excitement when she'd told him that she'd stopped taking the contraceptive pill. He'd been as happy as she'd ever seen him. He really wanted this, and so did she, even if she was scared to death.

She'd had to leave Bahrain shortly after telling him to fly home to Switzerland, with Seb flying off to Saudi Arabia, but as soon as he'd returned home he'd been like a man possessed, taking every opportunity he had to fill her with his seed. She'd been a bit too far into her cycle for it to work though as she'd got her period just four days after his return.

Now he was out in Australia and Savannah was missing him so much. He'd left home on the Sunday, giving himself a little extra time to adjust to the time difference, and he wouldn't be home until Tuesday. Nine days without him! She knew she'd never get used to it. He was part of her now.

After she'd made her drink she picked it up and made her way into the lounge where she curled up on the sofa, pulling a fleece blanket over her legs. She picked up the remote control and switched the television on.

"I hope he bloody appreciates this," she muttered, before yawning again. The intro music was just playing as she switched over to Sky Sports F1. The first shot she saw was of Max Verstappen sat in his Red Bull waiting for FP1 to begin. The commentators were going on about how dominant he'd been in Saudi Arabia. "Huh, never went on about how he got away with impeding Seb in qualifying there."

She remembered how mad she'd been as she'd seen the reigning champion ruin Seb's final flying lap in Q3 at Jeddah. She'd been furious. Maddie had been watching with her and had had to calm her down. He'd ended up starting sixth, and finished third. Surely that was a better drive than winning from pole! The fans had thought so, citing him driver of the day, if only he'd get a point for that!

The camera changed and she smiled as she saw Seb stood at the back of his garage with Antti. He had his balaclava on and his helmet perched on the top of his head. He definitely needed a shave! His beard was looking rather wild.

She didn't know how she did it but she managed to keep awake for the whole session. It had finished five minutes earlier than scheduled after Nyck deVries had a big crash in his Alpha Tauri. Savannah had been very relieved to see
the Dutchman climb out unhurt.

She debated whether to go back up to bed for a little while before FP2, or whether to nap on the sofa, but before she could decide her phone began to ring.

She picked it up, smiling as she saw an incoming FaceTime call from Seb.  She accepted it.

Seb's face appeared on the screen.  He smiled at her.

"Hey gorgeous," he said. "Did you watch?"

"I did. I must be mad.  I think I saw you about four times all session.  Sky were too busy kissing Max's arse."
