Savannah's eyes widened as she saw the Ferrari parked at the kerb. She'd been expecting Seb's Audi, not this.
They rounded the car and came to a stop near the passenger seat door. Seb looked at her. He must have seen the astonished look on her face, as he gave a small laugh.
"A Ferrari California. I bought her the year I signed for Ferrari. I got a lovely discount. I don't really get the chance to drive her much now so I thought it would be nice to drive her tonight."
"It's beautiful," Savannah said truthfully. She'd never been a big one for cars but this car, she could see it was something special.
Seb had put the roof and the windows down. Savannah took in the grey leather interior. It really was a beauty.
Seb opened the door, holding it for Savannah to climb inside. Once she was in he shut the door and walked briskly around the front of the car. He opened his door and climbed in.
"This feels weird," Savannah said. "Not having any kids with us I mean. We usually have Oli."
"Yeah," Seb murmured. "I thought it would be nice to spend some time together without the rugrats. Sometimes I feel like I need time to be just me rather than Seb the parent, and I'm sure you feel the same."
After making sure they both had their belts on Seb started the car, the V8 engine roaring to life. He pulled away from the kerb.
As he cruised down the lane he reached out and put the stereo on. A Beatles song came on. So that's there that CD went, Seb thought.
Savannah watched his hands on the leather bound steering wheel as he turned onto the main road. They were beautiful hands, average size for a man, with a dusting of blonde hair on the back of each one. She just knew that those hands would know exactly what to do to a woman.
Seb smiled to himself. He could see her watching him out the corner of his eye. She was definitely checking him out. Even though he still didn't think getting involved would be a good idea, it was an ego boost to know she found him attractive. He certainly found her attractive. It didn't matter whether she was wearing her denim cutoffs and a baggy T-shirt, or a posh dress, hell she could wear a bin bag and he knew he'd still want her in his bed.
He began to sing along with the song that was playing.
"If I'd been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door? Will you still need me, will you still feed me
When I'm sixty-four!"Savannah smiled. He didn't have the best singing voice but she loved listening to him sing. She'd heard him singing several times over the last few months and it never grew old.
One day maybe she'd sing for him. Singing was one of her few talents. She knew she was good but she lacked confidence. She had to be pretty drunk to have a go on a karaoke.
Her hair began to blow in the wind as Seb accelerated on the main road. She turned to look out of the window so her hair blew behind her instead of in her face.
Less than ten minutes after leaving home Seb pulled into the car park of the restaurant. He jumped out of the car and almost ran around it to open the door for Savannah. He held his hand out. She took it and stepped out of the car.
"Aren't you going to shut the roof?" Savannah asked him.
"Shit," he cursed. He'd forgotten in his eagerness to open her door for her. He went back to the driver side and opened the door. A minute later the car was all secure and they were heading across the carpark to the restaurant, which was a converted old stone cottage with a modern extension added on to the side.
