Seb pinched the top of his nose between his thumb and forefinger. He sighed with frustration. They had been home now for seventy two hours and he still hadn't told Savannah about Christian's threats. The truth was they hadn't spoken much at all. Savannah seemed to have withdrawn a little from him since Austin and he didn't really blame her.
She'd accompanied him to the track again on the Saturday, but had decided to remain at the villa on the Sunday, claiming a headache, but Seb thought there was more to it than that.
She'd been acting strange ever since their kiss. He could have kicked himself for putting them in this position. Why hadn't he just stuck to the plan? A in name only marriage!
The days following the race weekend had been strained as well. They'd hung out at the villa. Seb had suggested going out but she'd declined. In the end he'd taken the kids, along with Antti and Maddy, and gone out, leaving Savannah alone.
Things hadn't been any better since they'd been home either. Savannah seemed to avoid being alone with him. She was always busy with the kids, and at bedtime she always went up before
him and was asleep, or pretending to be, by the time he went up.
He'd just asked her out to lunch, saying Maddy was willing to come and have the kids, but she'd turned him down, saying she had to work, that she had some book that needed editing.
What the fuck was going through her mind? Why was she being like this?
Savannah knew she was being difficult but she just didn't know how cope with everything that was going through her mind. Seb had kissed her, really kissed her! He'd touched her, albeit through her blouse, but he'd still touched her! He'd been aroused. Yet, he'd acted like it meant nothing to him.
He wouldn't talk to her about it, he'd turned his back on her in bed on the Friday night. Saturday he'd acted like they had never kissed at all, and he'd turned his back on her again.
Did he really regret what had happened between them? It hurt, it really hurt. She just felt so confused. What were these feelings that she just couldn't push aside? She was terrified that she was falling for him. She couldn't fall for him. He didn't love her, he'd told her as much. Was he still in love with Harmony?
She walked past where he was sitting at the kitchen table and opened the fridge.
"You can work later," he told her. "Please Sav, I just want a little alone time with my wife."
"Why? It's not as if this is real is it?" she hissed after making sure none of the kids were around.
"You know it's fucking real Sav," he snapped back. "What the hell has got into you? We need to talk. You know that, so why are you avoiding me?"
"I'm always around you."
"You know what I mean. Talk to me. Tell me what I've done wrong. How can I fix it if I don't know."
Savannah knew that he was right, not that he could fix it. He deserved the truth though. She sighed. "Ok," she conceded. "Can we just take a picnic and eat in the car though? I don't want to be overheard."
Seb nodded, willing to compromise if it meant she'd talk to him. "I'll let Maddy know. Can you be ready in say half an hour?" She nodded and left the kitchen.
Seb ran his fingers through his hair. He felt so stressed. Besides Savannah being off, his mother wasn't talking to him. She was mad that they'd gone and got married without her being there. His father had been fine and had assured Seb that his mother would soon come around but he hated being at odds with her. Savannah's parents had both been fine about it. They had said it was ok as it wasn't real. Seb had wanted to scream at them that it was real. A marriage didn't have to be sexual to be real, did it? His mind was so messed up. One minute he'd decide that staying to the original plan was the right thing to do, sex would complicate things. The next minute he was desperate to give into his desire for Savannah. It didn't help that he didn't know what she wanted. She'd told him to kiss her, now she was acting cold towards him. He pulled out his phone to text Maddy. The sooner he and Savannah talked the better.
