Somehow, Josephina managed to make it through the first two of the four day trip with little to no awkwardness besides John small territorial actions around Paul.
The second day of the McCartneys joining the picnic, John made his status as Josephina's husband very clear. He kept his arm around her shoulder while they stood and when they sat, he made sure she was next to him-onto of course, when Paul was within their airspace, much to her annoyance and embarrassment.
"Really?" Paul watched the two, how they gazed at each other with so much adoration, not even Yoko had gotten that much affection in one glance from John.......
"Always."
"So it's done. I call up the priest at the nearest Greek Orthodox Church and it will happen." Yia-Yia clapped her hands and Paul furrowed his brows.
"I thought Josephina was Catholic......" he looked confused across the table to Gabriella who shook her head.
"Ma's family is Catholic, Dad's is Greek Orthodox. Don't even get Papu started on that or we'll be hear until dinner time." She grimaced as the old man looked over at her, clearly hearing.
"It would be your lucky day, to be baptized in the Greek Orthodox Church," he looked at Paul who shrunk slightly under the pressure of his gaze. It was like being scolded by his late father all over again, "There are two kinds of people - Greeks, and everyone else who wish they was Greek." Heads nodded while Emilia rolled her eyes.
"Abba, try some watermelon yeah?" Emilia saved Paul, handing her father in law some fruit.
"Josephina, John, please, you two eat some fruit too. Raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries they're all good for fertility." Josephina's theía encouraged, gesturing to the plentiful summer berries laid out.
John choked on his coffee, rubbing his throat while his wife's cheeks reddened and it was Paul's turn to be amused.
"Funny you should mention that theía, because we actually have some news....." Josephina looked at her husband who had stopped coughing and shared her smile, "you wanna tell them or should I?"
"Go ahead love..." he held her hand under the table.
"I'm three months pregnant!" Josephina beamed and immediately the table was filled with excited chatter, relatives leaving their breakfast to stop to hug and kiss the parents, while also touching Josephina's noticeable belly.
"That explains why you're been wearing such loose baggy clothes. I was worried you were into some weird new fashion thing...." Yia-Yia scrunched up her nose in disgust, "do you know what you're having?" The old woman asked curiously.
"We're not going to find out until Jo's a little further along but we can say that the extra bedrooms will be well occupied...." John puffed up proudly, "we're having twins."

"So Jo, are you going to retire after the twins are born?" Paul asked while the breakfast tables were cleared. The kids had all run off towards the shore while the adults helped clean up.
"Why should she do that?" John asked, eyes narrowed behind his prescription sunglasses and Paul swallowed the last of his orange with a frown.
"Well I know from experience, raising four children isn't easy, and with careers as active as ours-"
"My wife and I are perfectly capable working parents. Our children are fine. I'm fine, Jo's fine. We're all fine." John let the annoyance be heard in his voice and Paul rolled his eyes, opening mouth to retort but Josephina stepped in before things became ugly.
