Morgan's POV
My brain is on autopilot as I change into some athletic shorts and a shirt. I tie my hair back messily, but I know Luna will fix it if it's really bad.
Half asleep, I leave my room, walking down to the gym alongside a few others I don't know but recognise.
I stand alone in the gym. Elijah or Sage isn't here yet, so everyone is just talking while we wait.
"Morgan, tell Marlow that he's very lucky I haven't fucking caved his head in with a bat already". I turn, looking at Diego and Marlow who are standing behind me, glaring at each other.
"Tell Deigo I'd like to see his stick arms try lift up a fucking bat" Marlow mutters back, and they both continue to glare into each other's souls.
I groan, stepping forward and leaning my head against Diego's chest. He wraps an arm around my shoulder and I sigh. "Tired?" He asks, and I hum.
"You need to stop staying up till three am listening to Florence and the machine" Marlow chuckles, and I shake my head. "Never".
I step back, rubbing my eyes. "What's wrong with you?" Luna appears, looking at me worried. "She's tired as usual" Marlow chuckles, and I shoot him a small glare.
"Morgan" I look at Luna, and she slaps me across the face. "Ouch" Diego snickers, while Marlow has no shame and laughs as I clutch my stinging cheek. Luna smiles, leaning in and kissing my cheek. "You're welcome".
Surprisingly, that did in fact wake me up. I smile at her, silently saying thank you. She gets the message, linking arms with me as we look at the front where Elijah and Sage are now standing.
"Alright. Now that you all have a little bit of muscle on your twig-like arms, we're going to be starting combat training" Elijah announces.
I grin, looking at the others to see they also look excited. "You're all happy now. Wait until you realise you're going to be thrown on the floor, kicked, punched, shoved- Repeatedly" Elijah chuckles, effectively wiping the happy look off most of our faces.
"Now we wanna see what we're working with. We're going to pair you up, and you're going to fight in the ring. Bare-fisted because it's more fun to watch" He smiles.
"Will you two be giving us a demonstration?" Someone asks. That sent Elijah into a fit of laughter. "Mate, no way in fucking hell would I ever set foot in a ring with this bitch" He laughs, pointing at Sage over his shoulder.
I don't think anyone blames Elijah. He's clearly fit, and strong- the muscles on his arms are evidence of that. But Sage easily overpowers him, and we can tell just by looking at him.
"Diego and Marlow," Elijah says, and a few heads turn in our direction, while others look around not knowing who that is.
"You two seem close. Now beat each other up" Elijah says, smiling as he nods his head towards the boxing ring that's set up near the wall on the right.
They both smirk, turning to each other. "I'm going to beat your ass," Marlow tells him. "Be careful not to break your hand again" Diego chuckles as he walks ahead toward the ring.
"One time. That happened one fucking time" Marlow mutters as he follows.
A few minutes later they're both in the ring, while the rest of us stand in front and watch. Sage and Elijah stand on the opposite side, watching too.
The fight ends pretty quickly. They both pull their punches, landing a few on each other, until a minute later Marlow gets Diego in a headlock, and that's the end of that.
Marlow looks way too proud stepping out of that ring, while Diego looks livid. Probably because he knows Marlow will never let him forget this.
A few more people get called until finally Luna gets called up against this girl named Stephanie. She gets on the ring, grinning. Luna looks frozen in fear.
"Don't be scared Luna, she's all bark no bite type. You're punching is your best bet, and remember people step before they kick" I whisper in her ear. She takes a deep breath, nodding as she gets up.
"Beat her ass, Luna. She's the bitch who's always shoving into us" Marlow shouts, and a lot of people murmur in agreement.
Stephanie flips Marlow off, and he mirrors her action. "Cry about it," She says. Luna then punches her across the face. And shit- she has a strong fucking punch.
"Damn" Marlow mumbles as Stephanie is on the floor clutching her cheek. Luna turns to me, looking nervous. "Like that?". I grin, shooting her a thumbs up.
Luna ends up winning the fight, without even getting a punch to her adorable face. Stephanie however...
Marlow and Diego are looking very pleased as she stands beside them. For the next half an hour we watch people get punched and kicked. One pair seemed to both be very good fighters, and that fight lasted seven minutes of them literally tossing each other around. Elijah was loving it, and even clapped for them when they finished.
Then lastly, my name is called, as well as Jess who I found out was 'girl'. I get on the ring, as does she. Looking out, I realise just how many people there are. Good thing I don't get stage fright.
"I'm going to beat your ass" She whispers, grinning. "Don't make me laugh. I'm trying to focus" I mumble.
She throws a punch which I saw coming from a mile away. I easily dodge, before landing a hard kick to her side.
She groans, clutching her side. I take the opportunity to land a hard punch to her jaw, and she falls to the ground. Unsurprisingly, she doesn't even try to get back up.
I smile, before stepping off the ring.
"Well, that was quick" Elijah mumbles. "Someone drag her off" He orders.
I walk over to my friends, and pat Diego on the cheek. "It's okay. Not everyone can be winners". He rolls his eyes, showing me his middle finger while Marlow and Luna laugh at him.
I smile, standing beside him as I turn to face the front again.
My eyes catch Sage's from across the ring.
He's staring at me, his arms crossed over his chest. His lips then curve up into a small smile, before he turns and walks off.
I stand, shocked and in disbelief that I got a clear view of him proving he's not an emotionless robot
