I woke up to see the sun just starting to rise.

Wow, I must have woke up really early.

I got out of bed, washed my face, brushed my hair, and changed into a pink tank top and some blue skinny jeans. I slowly sneaked to my mom's room to see if she was awake. She was still asleep, thankfully.

I quickly sneaked out of her room to go to the stables. I was reaching Beauty's/Alex's stall when suddenly a sharp pain crept up to my spine.

I fell down on the sand and everything went black. After a while, I heard Alex's voice.

"Melody! Melody, are you alright? Please wake up!"

I groaned, "Okay, okay I'm going."

I opened my eyes and tried to stand up. I seemed to be alright for the most part.

She took me to the stables, where she checked to see if I was hurt. After the fifth time, I said "Alex, I'm fine, really. I just wanted to ask you a few more questions."

She gave me a hesitant look before saying, "Ask away."

"About how long will it take until I will be able to shift?"

"Oh, just one more day, why?" Alex asked.

"Because I felt a sharp pain creep up my spine and I felt sick. That's why I fell. But I'm alright for now, I think."

"Hmm, probably because you might be able to shift tomorrow! Aren't you excited?!"

I laughed at her sudden excitement.

"Yeah, of course I am!"

We high-fived each other.

"Anything else you wanted to ask?"

I thought for a few seconds.

"Well, how do you know when and how to shift?"

"Oh, that's easy. You just feel really tingly all over. Then, all you have to do is picture yourself in horse form based on your hair color while closing your eyes. After, you hear a cracking of bones but don't worry, that's just how it works. The pain might come as a shock to you at first but you eventually become used to it after a while. Trust me, I would know. And then, you're finally a horse!" She said, beaming.

I really love her. She's a good friend as a horse and a person. I wonder if she's had anyone to talk since she's been in the stable for a year.

"Thanks for the advice, Alex," I said.

She nodded.

"Oh! And one more thing I forgot to mention was that every horse shifter has a mate."

"What?!" I screamed.

She laughed and said, "You sense that your mate is near when you feel tingly when you're together and when you kiss you feel sparks everywhere."

"K-kiss?"
