"So there you have it, mom. That's the story of a horse shifter."

"This... is... so... cool!" Mom said, with huge smile on her face.

"I'm glad you approve of this, mom," I said, smiling back.

"If you guys don't mind, I have always heard of things like horseshifters and alphas but I never knew if it was real. Now, I know for sure that it is true and I  wanted to ask... would one of you turn me into a horseshifter?" she asked.

"We would love to but uh... Maria, don't you have a husband?" Max asked, shyly.

"Max, my dad died when I was seven. He was teaching me how to jump a double bar at the time. Then, he got a phone call in the middle of the lesson. I had a different horse back then. His name was Racer. He got spooked and he started rearing and bucking me. I held on tight to the reins when they suddenly slipped out of my hands and I fell to the floor. The last thing I remember was seeing my dad on the floor, with a mark of Racer's horseshoe on his face, which was full of blood. Then, I must have passed out."

"When I finally woke up, I was in the hospital. There was no one there, so I tried to get up, but I felt a sharp pain in my stomach. I lay back down on the bed and saw that I was all over the news."

"Girl riding with dad when phone drives the horse crazy!"

"I automatically started panicking. I started screaming and shouting for anyone to come and see me. Then, I heard the shuffling of feet and saw that it was the doctor."

'Melody, are you alright? What's wrong?' he asked with a worried look on his face.

'First of all, where is my dad? Is he okay? Second of all, where is Racer? Please tell me he's okay, too. I can't bear to lose either of them I-'
