"Fine, neither you nor me. We say them at the same time."

"Fiiine. One... two... three!"

"A+!" we said in unison.

We each other our papers back and high-fived. After, we turned in our papers. Mrs. Lopez started teaching today's lesson once everyone had turned in their papers. When she was finished, she passed out the homework and classwork for the day.

"Finish the classwork first and then move on to the homework. Only when you are finished with absolutely everything may you read silently. Oh and please try to keep talking to a minimum," she said.

I started on the classwork and realized that it was pretty easy. When I was done, I started on the homework, which was simple too. Afterwards, I took out 'Black Beauty' and started reading.

Michael stared at me in shock, surprised that I had finished so quickly.

What can I say? I'm pretty good in math and reading.

I gave him a funny smirk and continued reading my book.

Michael kept doing the classwork and homework. I'd look up from time to time to check up on him. I heard tapping noises so I looked up again. Michael seemed to be nervously tapping his pencil against his desk.

"Pssst. Michael, you okay?" I whispered.

He seemed to flinch, almost as if he had been in a daze.

"Oh- uh yeah thanks, Melody. Do you think you could help me with this one? I've been stuck on it for a bit."

He pointed to a question on the homework and I looked it over.

"Oh yeah, that one's easy! Here, let me show you," I told him, still whispering.

I started explaining to him the steps to solve the question. Since it was a bit of a long problem, I'd ask him if he understood every so often. Michael would nod every time.
