My Story as a Horse Shifter [#1]

Chapter 7

"No problem, Melody. Anything for my best friend!" Alex said.

"Thanks again, Alex!" I said.

"So, Alex," I said, "How do we find our mates?"

"Hmm, we could always try to find a herd but I don't know. Your mom might get worried," she said.

I thought about it for a moment. Knowing my mom, yeah, she might freak out. Suddenly, an idea came to my head.

"Or, we could just wait for them to find our house."

She sighed, "Yeah, you're right. Hopefully they find it. I haven't had any luck yet."

"It's okay, Alex. Don't give up! Well, I better be going. Just neigh if you hear or see something," I said.

"Okay," she replied with a smile.

She shifted and went in her stall.

I went to my house and saw my mom finishing cooking lunch.

"Hi mom!" I said.

"Hi sweetie!" she said, "I'm just finishing cooking lunch. You can start setting up the table."

As soon as I finished, my mom gave me my plate, and I said, "Mom, can we eat?"

"Of course, honey! I'm hungry, myself." she said, laughing.

We ate and once we were finished, I went upstairs to get my phone and listen to some music.

I went to Spotify and started listening to my playlist. Then, out of nowhere, I heard Beauty neighing really loudly. My mom came running to my room.

"Melody! Beauty's neighing a lot, didn't you say she was looking good this morning? Maybe I should take a look and see if everything's okay."

"No- I mean, it's okay mom. I'll go check it out. Thanks for telling me," I replied.

She gave me a hesitant look before saying, "Well okay, if you insist. Call me if you need anything!"

I nodded.

I ran downstairs and went to the stables. There were two guys by Beauty's stall desperately trying to calm her down. They were saying things like, "It's okay, girl," and "We won't hurt you."

I entered the stable and one of the guys stared at me for the longest time. He had beautiful dirty blonde hair and dark brown eyes. I felt a weird tingly feeling all around me.

Could it be my mate? No, I have to be careful. These guys could be dangerous.

I broke eye contact and said, "Um, who are you guys and what are you doing here? This is private property."

I had to admit, I was a little scared. Beauty gave me a reassuring look to try and calm me down.

The guy with dirty blonde hair started talking, "I'm sorry, we didn't mean to frighten you. My name is Maximus and this is Jonathan."

He smiled at me and pointed to a guy with light brown hair and dark brown eyes. The guy with light brown hair smiled at me too. The first guy continued talking after I looked at them for a bit.

"We came here because we are your mates. I sensed the pull and I know that you're my mate. We're trying to find Jonathan's mate."

Suddenly, Beauty shifted into Alex.

"Hi! I'm Alexandra. I go by Alex though," she said to the guys.

"Woah! Nice to meet you, Alex," Johnathan said. "You're a horseshifter?"

"Yup!" she replied. "Not sure if this is the name for it but are you a... werewolf?"

His eyes widened.

"How did you know?"

"Ha, you smell like a wolf," she said, smiling.

"Heyyy, what's that supposed to mean?" he asked.

They both laughed and she started blushing.

She likes him! Well they look pretty cute together. Aww, I'm so happy for her!

Then, Maximus turned towards me and asked, "So, what might your name be?"

"Oh right, I didn't say anything did I?"

He shook his head, "Nope, you gave us the silent treatment."

I laughed.

"Sorry, I'm Melody. Nice to meet you, Maximus," I said with a smile.

"A beautiful name for a beautiful girl," he replied, smiling back at me.

Then I started blushing.

"So, you're a horse shifter, too?" He asked looking at me with his beautiful brown eyes.

I played with my dark brown hair.

All he's doing is looking at me but I'm speechless.
