I entered my next class: Language Arts. I couldn't stop thinking about what had just happened.

Is Max real? He's so incredibly sweet and thoughtful, it feels like I'm in a dream.

I quickly entered class and sat in my seat next to my best friend, Kat.

"Hi!" she said, smiling at me.

"Oh, hey Kat!"

"What happened, you seem a little... I don't know, dazed?" she asked.

"Don't worry, I'm fine. So, what do you think we're going to do today?" I asked, changing the subject.

"Maybe we'll read a new chapter in 'To Kill A Mockingbird'."

"To Kill A Mockingbird" was the book we were reading at the moment. I'm really liking it so far. We talked for a while until Mrs. Alvarez walked in.

"Good morning, class!" she said.

"Good morning, Mrs. Alvarez," we replied.

"As you know, today we will read the last chapters of 'To Kill A Mockingbird' and next class we will take the final test," she said.

I listened to her speaking and then noticed that the pain was getting stronger again. I just ignored it. I wasn't about to tell anyone that I was a horse shifter. We read the book for the rest of the period and talked about how each student interpreted the story. Then, the bell rang and we left class.

"Remember, study for the final test on the book!" she shouted.

Everyone went to their last class. I couldn't wait to go home. I quickly ran to science class, wondering how much longer I could last. I think I also had this class with Max. I couldn't wait to see him.

Hopefully, I'll feel better once I see him again.

I entered class and I sat in the middle of the room. Max entered a few minutes later. He flashed me a smile and took a seat next to me.

I smiled back at him.

"Hi, Max!"

"Hey, Mel! So, how's the pain? Feeling any better?" he asked.

"I'm feeling better but it still hurts a bit," I said, knowing I couldn't lie to him.

"Don't worry, I'll take you to the clinic when class ends. Or maybe I can ask Mrs. Fernandez if I can take you now," he said, placing a hand on my forehead.

"Thanks, Max. I'd really appreciate that," I said.

"Anything for you, Mel."

He went to talk to Mrs. Fernandez, leaving me there blushing.

Gosh, It's so hard to control myself when I'm near him. I feel like I wanna give him a hug for being this thoughtful. No one's ever been so nice to me before. I wonder if he feels the way I do about him or if he's just teasing me.
