Chapter 14

Since we were really close to science class, we got there really quickly. When we got there Max, being sweet as always, opened the door and said, "Ladies first."

I giggled softly and walked in. Everyone was staring at us. So many girls were glaring at me for some reason. I secretly wondered why.

Max saw their looks and as we sat down, he whispered, "Don't worry, you're the only girl that I like and I'll always protect you. You mean too much to me."

I'm one lucky girl.

"Yes you are," he said, smiling.

I smiled back.

Then, Whisper spoke again, "I'm so glad you kissed him. I couldn't bear it any longer."

"Yeah, I wanted to do that for a while," I mindlinked her.

Alex had showed me how to do that, thankfully.

We listened to Mrs. Fernandez speaking and she gave us gave us some notes to copy down.

We were learning about the reproductive system today. I was a little nervous when she was talking about the female parts and the male parts but I knew I would have to learn about them one day.

When we were finishing taking the last of the notes, the bell rang right on time. She dismissed class and thankfully, we didn't have a test next class.

I put away my things and left class. Max was waiting for me outside and said, "Would you like my parents to take you home?"

"Well, my mom was planning on picking me up so I'm not really sure..."

"Ah, sorry. Would you mind asking her? If not, maybe some other time then," he said, sounding slightly disappointed.

Aww, he's so cute.

"Aww, it's okay! I'll ask her, I have to call her anyway."

I took my phone out of my book bag and dialed her number.

She picked up and said, "Hi, Melody."

"Hey, mom. I was wondering, my friend Max was asking me if he could take me home. He's from school. Do you think he can take me?"

"Well, I do have a couple of things to do in the house, so okay then. But I'm going to have to talk to him and his parents," she said.

"No problem, mom. Thank you! You're the best!"

"See you then, sweetie."

"Byee!" I said, hanging up.

I turned around to look at Max.

"So, what did she say?" he asked.

"She said yes!" I exclaimed.

I hugged him tight and he hugged me back. We stayed like that for a couple of minutes when he said

"Mel, your mom sounds like a really nice person. I'm so lucky to have met you."

He started leaning close to me and I noticed that I was, too. He kissed me softly on the lips and I kissed back automatically. He placed his hands around my waist and I wrapped my arms around his shoulders. We stayed like that for a couple of minutes until I finally pulled back for air.

He smiled at me and said, "I really like you, Mel."

"I really like you too, Max." I said.

We walked hand in hand to the student pick up lane, where I saw a white BMW parked right up front.

"Come on," he said, pulling me gently towards the car.

He talked with a woman who I assumed was his mom for a little bit and then she turned to me.

"Hi, Melody. It's nice to meet you. I'm Luisa, Max's mother," she said kindly.

"Hi, Mrs... um-"

"Knight," Max mind linked me

"-Mrs. Knight! It's nice to meet you, too," I said, smiling at her.

"Aww, you're so polite! No need, you can call me Luisa, my dear."

I smiled.

"Thanks, Luisa!"

"Come on, Mel. Get in the car. We're taking you home," Max said, smiling at me.

I got inside and sat next to him.

"Luisa, if you don't mind, my mom would like to get to know you and Max a little more. She's a little protective over me so I hope that's okay," I said.

"Oh, of course! Tell her that she can trust us and if you ever need a ride, we are always available. I'd love to stay and talk to her."

"Thanks," I said kindly.

We were all quiet for a bit until Luisa asked, "So Max, are you and Mel together?"
