Wednesday's pov:
I've decided to wait until my mandatory therapy session to escape so until then I need to make the best of my situation here at Nevermore. Enid suggested I take fencing with her since it's apparently a big sport at the school. I walk into the fencing hall and see roughly about thirty kids sparing then I notice one pair in particular. One person is standing and has clearly just won the match and the other is a nerdy blonde boy who has just thrown his face guard off and is on the floor.
-"ugh seriously coach when I'm I gonna get some real competition? Anyone wanna challenge me??"
The girl says, taking off her helmet.
-"I will"
I reply, walking towards her and the coach.
-"oh you must be the psychopath they let in"
She says with a fake smile and cheerful attitude.
-"and you must be the self appointed queen bee"
I state. She nods her head and shrugs in agreement.
-"funny thing about bees is, pull out their stinger and they drop dead."
I say taking a step forward. The girl backs up clearly a little frightened. She looks at the boy still on the ground.
-"Rowen doesn't need you to come to his defense. He's not helpless he's just lazy"
She says, clearly thinking I was attempting to help him. It's annoying how people always just assume things.
-"we gonna do this or not?"
I ask, pulling my mask down and drawing my sword. The girl looks at the crowd forming around us.
-"fine, let's get this over with"
She says, getting into position.Enid's pov:
Why is Wednesday so impulsive?? Out of all the people she could've challenged she had to pick Bianca. I make my way to the front of the crowd with Yoko to watch the dual. Within seconds Wednesday gets first point. Maybe she could win this? Match two then begins. Wednesday lunges forward but Bianca dodges and pivots to the side and gets a point on Wednesday.
-"the score is now even"
Coach says. Wednesday then takes her helmet off and walks to the coach.
-"for the third match I'd like to invoke a military challenge. No masks. Winner draw's first blood."She says as nonchalantly as ever. I don't get what's wrong with her, like who even thinks to do something like this?? Wednesday and the coach then turn to face Bianca.
-"it's your decision Bianca"
The coach says to reassure her she can back out. Bianca looks at the crowd.
-"fine. Let's see if you bleed in black and white"
Bianca says throwing her mask to the ground. The match then starts. Wednesday fights as though she's dancing. So elegant and graceful. Her braids glide in the air as she spins and lunges towards Bianca. I starred in awe, I had never seen something so mesmerizing. Finally Bianca sliced Wednesdays four head and blood instantly trickled down. Bianca smirks.
-"your face finally got the splash of color it so desperately needed."
She said cockily.Wednesday's pov:
I can't believe I lost the match. I've never felt so terrible in my life. It's quit unpleasant. Coach sends me to the infirmary where the nurse cleans and patches up my scratch. As I leave the nurses office I pick up on a faint smell of bergamot. It reminds me of Things favorite hand lotion. I wonder if my parents were evil enough to send him to spy on me, or I could be losing my mind. Both options seem plausible. I walk outside and it's rainy. Perfect. As I'm walking I hear the sound of concrete rubbing against each other. I look up to see one of the schools gargoyles being pushed off the roof then someone tackles me. Everything fades to black. I wake up back in the infirmary and notice a boy sitting in a seat next to the bed I was resting on.
-"who are you?"
I demand.
-"names Xavier thorp"
He says, reaching out his hand with a smile. I ignore him and get up to walk away.
-"hey just take it easy, the nurses say you don't have any severe injuries but that you probably have a pretty nasty concussion"
He says trying to keep me in the bed. Ugh this day has been so tiring.
-"if it makes you feel better I'll leave"
He says.
-"it'd be appreciated"
I reply. He frowns then walks away to leave. I wait for about another twenty minutes then get up to head back to the dorm.
-"Wendy! You ok??"
Enid asks, clearly worried.
-"I'm fine I-....did you just call me Wendy?"
I ask confused. Enid's face turns red from embarrassment.
-"nope!"
She says embarrassed. I decide to ignore it.
-"whatever, the nurses said I could skip the rest of my classes today. Why are you here?"
I ask bluntly.
-"oh I kinda sorta skipped. I just wanted to make sure you were ok. Xavier came in saying you were almost hit by a falling statue so I wanted to check on you"
She says bashfully.
-"I'm fine so you can leave now"
-"oh I don't have to I can just stay here to take care of you and-"
-"actually I'd prefer you to leave. I plan to work on my novel today."
I say interrupting her.
-"I-well..fine then Wednesday!"
She yells and storms out. I shrug and walk back to my desk to start writing.
