Xavier and Enid

Wednesdays pov:

-"Wednesday! Pugsley! Lunch!"
I hear my father call out and I stop my typing.
-"coming father"
I reply, grabbing my phone as I exit the room. I feel my phone buzz and check the notification. It's a picture of Enid holding up a giant pretzel with her brother looking at her confused in the background. I smile a bit and can tell I'm probably blushing as I look down at the picture but I don't care. She's my girlfriend and life is good. It's possible I might actually love her.

Enid's pov:

-"what was that for?"
Chase asks with a slight laugh.
-"hm?"
I reply, placing my phone and pretzel down.
-"the picture you took, I'm guessing insta?"
He asks. I smile and feel as I begin blushing a bit. It's actually been quite some time since I've been on my socials, Wednesdays taught me there's better stuff I could be doing.
-"actually no, Wednesday"
I reply, smiling a bit.

-"awww Enssss you're in wuv!"
He says. I hit his arm playfully, my face burning up but I'm not embarrassed. There's not a doubt in my mind I love Wednesday. I've loved her since the moment I met her, the night of our first big fight, and I knew I wanted to hold her forever the second she pulled me back into a hug. A huge smile grows on my brother's face.
-"ya didn't deny it!"
He exclaims.
-"deny what?"
I hear Oliver ask as he places his arms on my head.
-"when'd you get here??"
-"oh hey bro"
-"sup"
Oliver replies, still with his arms on top of my head.

-"so what's up?"
-"Enie's in loveeee"
Chase teases and I feel my blush become more evident.
-"oooo with who??"
Oliver eagerly questions, pulling up his own chair now. I glare at him.
-"oh ya didn't hear?"
Chase asks. Oliver looks at him confused.
-"alright guess it's not my place to say then"
Chase replies with a shrug.
-"what didn't we hear?"
Danny asks as he and Bradly walk over to us.
-"Enie's in love but won't say with who"
Oliver replies.
-"gross"
Bradly says.
-"oooo is it Tony??"
Danny excitedly asks and Bradly's face brightens up as well.

I start feeling sick to my stomach and Chase frowns as he looks at me. He places his hand over mine and manages a smile that slightly makes me feel better.
-"Tony's not good enough for our sis"
He says.
-"what! Tony's too good for our-"
-"nope I'm tired of hearing about him, let's grab some ice cream and go wait for dad"
Chase says, cutting off Danny and Bradly. They look at each other confused but don't say a word, we all just follow his lead.

Wednesday's pov:

-"lunch is delicious, thank you Lurch"
I say, dipping my bread into the creamy tomato soup. Everyone nods their heads, their mouths too full to verbally agree. After dinner I head up to my room as my brother begins working on one of his "experiments".

Xavier:
-'hey wens! 🤗'

ME:
-'don't call me that'

Xavier:
-'hehe still as hot and cold as ever I see'
-'I was just texting with Ajax and it got my thinking...'
-'do you have feelings for Enid?'

I look down at the texts confused for a moment. I thought everyone knew I liked her but it seems I was wrong.

Xavier:
-'I know it's totally weird seeing as how y'all are just friends'
-'along with her basically just being a colorful child 🤷🏻'

I look down at the texts, a feeling of anger growing inside me. My grip slightly tightens on my phone.

ME:
-'and what prey tell is THAT supposed to mean?'
-'Enid's actually quite mature she just happens to be more energetic than most'
-'certainly more than a depressed pessimistic "artist" like you'

Xavier doesn't answer for a moment and I sigh, calming myself down.

ME:
-'me and Enid are dating'
-'my apologies for not informing you sooner'
-'so yes'
-'I have feelings for her'

Xavier:
-'well that's weird'

My jaw almost drops as I read that message.

Xavier:
-'no offense tho, Enid's great and all'
-'just wasn't expecting it but cool'
-'I wish y'all the best 😁'

Ajax's pov:

As I'm gaming my phone begins ringing, it's Xavier. I quickly put it on speaker and continue my game.
-"sup bro"
-"don't "sup bro" me!"
He yells.
-"huh? Wassup?"

He sighs, clearly irritated at something.
-"I think you might be right about Enid and Wednesdays relationship thing"
-"oh well like yeah"
I laugh a bit.
-"I can't believe you didn't notice"
-"I'M the one who's perfect for Wednesday through!"
I look over at my phone confused and almost with slight disgust. Xavier's never really been rejected by a girl so he's still struggling to understand what's going on.
-"I hope you didn't say some shit to Wednesday"
He sighs.
-"I didn't, I almost did by accident but was able to spin it off as me being supportive"

-"well that's good. Just give it time bro, you'll get another girl"
-"I suppose I could always go back to Bianca"
I sigh and shake my head disappointedly. I understand why Wednesday didn't like him. Xavier never stood a chance against Enid that's for sure but on top of that he can be a tad entitled and seems to be just about everything Wednesday would hate in a guy. No offense to my bro though.
-"Ajax?"
-"shit sorry, yeah bud. Think she'll take you back if you tried?"
-"pfft of course she would, she's like in love with me after all"
-"I mean I guess..."

-"hmm...I dunno would it be a bad thing to still pursue Wed-"
-"yes."
-"but like just to show her I'm the bes-"
-"nope. Let her be dude"
-"I'm better for Wednesday than Enid!"
For some reason anger builds up in me and I start breathing heavier. I quickly shut off my game and pick up my phone.
-"they deserve to be happy!"
I yell.
-"what..?"
-"why can't you let them be? Why do you need Wednesday? Why must you compete with Enid? They're happy! Do you even know the shit they went through? Yeah I get it. You were falsely accused and sent to jail, that sucks bro. But ultimately that made you safer than everyone AND I know Wednesday tried to break you out but you acted like a dick"
-"I-"
-"yeah I betcha didn't think anyone knew about that right? Wednesday doesn't talk but that little hand that's always with her sure does. Point is If you really cared about Wednesday you'd...you'd let her be happy... don't you DARE fuck with their relationship"

-"wow. What's got your dick twisted? Besides, say I do continue to shower Wednesday with my affections, what's the harm? Whatcha gonna do?"
He laughs a bit.
-"your still my bro dude don't worry I just don't get what got you pissed"
-"Xavier."
-"yeah?"
-"you're right, we're bros. So I'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and not mention this to anyone. But...pull some shit? Mess up their relationship? I will FUCK. YOU. UP"
Before he can say anything else I hang up the call and fall on my bed.

I dunno what's got me so worked up. It's probably cuz Enid, I don't like her romantically but she is still one of the most important people to me. I don't like people looking down on my friends. Xavier better not ruin the holidays. If I don't kill him... Wednesday will.
