Wednesday's pov:

Let's recap if you will.
I have just turned 16. Me and Enid haven't talked for 2 days. The Mayor was killed, and I am now at his funeral. Typically I enjoy funerals, I've been crashing them since I was old enough to read the obituary section but Mayor Walker was murdered, and I know the killers here somewhere. Xavier's my main suspect. Something about his mysterious nature doesn't sit right with me, and his timing is all too convenient. I look out at everyone at the funeral, aside from the mayors family I'd have to say Weems looks the most depressed. Doesn't mean I can rule her out though. It could be anyone, the only two people I know it can't be are Enid and Tyler.

I see Enid begin to cry only this time it's not me she holds onto for comfort, it's Ajax. They really do make a good couple or..at least they look good together. I turn to look away when I notice a dark figure from behind a tree. The figure takes off and I run after it. This could be the killer! Once I arrive in the woods there's no sign of the person until out of nowhere they jump down behind me luckily I have quick reflexes. I take my fencing blade from my umbrella and lunge it at the person but they put their hands on it and a hard electric shock hits me and I fall too the ground.
-"hi my pigtailed protégé"
Suddenly a smile spreads across my face.
-"uncle Fester"
I say slightly whispering. The then takes off his hat and smiles.
-"what are you doing here?"
I ask as we start to walk.
-"eh I was just passing through town and was hit by a wave of nostalgia"
-"I thought you didn't attend Nevermore?"
-"oh I didn't, your father got all the brains. He..he filled me in on what's been going on. Monsters, murder, mayhem, spells, and I thought...what fun!"
He says with a bright smile.
-"besides I told your parents I had a job in Boston "
-"what kind of job?"
I ask suspiciously. He inhales.
-"the kind that means I need somewhere to lay low for a bit"
He says with a smile. Another smile spreads across my face as well.
-"I know a place you can stay, follow me"

Enid's pov:

-"I can't believe Wednesday left the funeral so early like wasn't this partly her fault to begin with?"
Ajax says. He's not a bad guy, he doesn't mean to say anything rude but he's freaking clueless about everything. Definite skater vibes.
-"well I mean not technicallyyy"
I say still on his arm as we walk around town.
-"nah I heard she was hiding in his car"
He then leans down.
-"totally pushed him dude!"
He whispers.
-"did not!"
I exclaim turning to look at him upset but he just looks at me confused.
-"uh I mean- I guess I wouldn't know"
He shakes his head and smiles.
-"I know you like to see the best in people but ya gotta stop doing that Enid"
He says still shaking his head as he slightly laughs. I awkwardly laugh along deciding to ignore his ignorance.

Wednesday's pov:

-"this place belongs to a friend"
I say as we walk into the bee hive.
-"huh, you actually made a friend"
He says in slight disbelief.
-"poor kid'll be going home in a body bag"
He says, taking his coat off. He then notices some of the hibernating bees.
-"oh! I like a hide out with a couple of snacks"
He says going to reach for the mini bee hives.
-"their practicality Eugene's child"
-"hm"
He says still going to reach for them.
-"That MEANS do not eat them!"
I say sternly.
-"fine well. How far are you on the case? Any idea what kinda monster your dealing with?"
-"I haven't been able to identify it"
I say, handing him one of Xavier's sketches. He looks at it then looks back up at me seriously.
-"it's called a Hyde"
He says, hanging the drawing back to me.
-"as in jackal and Hyde?"
I ask as I put the paper back in my bag.
-"mhm!"
He says nodding his head.
-"you've seen one?"
I ask.
-"only once, her name was Olga Malacopa. Boy she had it all, beauty, brains, and a pension for necrophilia"
He says with a wide smile. I slightly glare in disgust.
-"anyways, one day in therapy she just..snapped"
He says, shrugging.
-"did anything trigger it?"
I ask, getting more interested.
-"not from what I could tell"
-"meaning..she could control it?"
-"that's what I think, have you tried reading any books on it?"
-"there's none like it in our library"
I say getting ready to leave.
-"have you tried Nathaniel Falkners diary?"
I stop in my tracks and turn to face him again.
-"Faulkner traveled the world and kept track of every outcast he could"
-"the diary. Where is it?"
I ask seriously. I love uncle Fester but he love's playing games, which I do not have time for.
-"Nightshades library"
-"alright..we'll sneak into the nightshades library tonight. I'll see you then"
I then leave the shack but remember he can't be trusted.
-"leave the bees alone!"
I say annoyed as I reopen the door. He rolls his eyes and places the sleeping bees back in their hive.

Enid's pov:

-"talk to Wednesday? Well other than yesterday when you mysteriously couldn't find 2 things?"
Yoko asked raising her eyebrow with a smirk.
-"nope! Oh now that you mention I can't find my favorite nail polish, better go ask Wednesday if. She's seen it"
I say, practically darting towards the door.
-"uh uh hold it right there missy"
Yoko says and I reluctantly stop. I already know she's gonna tell me how I should just fix things already.
-"you can't just keep going to check on her"
-"whaaattt no I'm not doing that! I just REALLY need my nail polish"
Yoko frowns and shakes her head.
-"really? You desperately need this nail polish?"
-"y-yes. Really"
I say with pleading eyes. We both know it's a lie but I can't just leave Wednesday and Thing alone.
-"ugh fine, go get your nail polish"
A smile spreads across my face.
-"thanks! I'll be right back!"
I say, running out of the room. Finally I reach the door, nervously I clench my fists but then lightly knock and open the door. Wednesday turns around and watches as I enter. F-fuck her eyes are so intense.

Wednesday's pov:

Enid slowly closes the door and I stand up and walk towards her. My heart begins pounding and my face begins heating up, who knew time apart could do this to someone?
-"s-sorry I figured you were still at mayor Walker's wake"
Huh..I thought she saw me leave? Guess not.
-"as soon as the dirt hits the coffin I'm out"
-"hmm. Well I was just looking for my silver moon nail polish. Haveee you seen it?"
She asks rocking back and forth. I think for a moment, honestly I might have but I wouldn't know for sure.
-"nope haven't seen it"
-"oh"
-"this is the third time in 24 hours you've forgotten something"
I say crossing my arms.
-"how you enjoying your solitude?"
She replies.
-"solitude suits me. Without annoying distractions I'm almost finished with my novel"
Shit why am I being rude?
-"was I..an annoying distraction?"
She asks running her fingers across her nightstand and looking innocently into my eyes. I feel my face begin to burn up.
-"you definitely had some annoying habits"
I reply. We argue for a bit until I shoot the final insult.
-"you spray enough perfume it could gas an entire small village. And THAT'S just off the top of my head"
I say, feeling pretty proud of myself.
-"guess I'M the lucky one with a new bestie who doesn't try to find ways endanger literally everybody she comes into contact with"
She says without even batting an eye. Holy- s-she really doesn't care..? Please tell me this is a joke..
-"at least I no longer have a cry baby roommate who grinds her fangs in her sleep."
Fuck.
-"enjoy your solitude Wednesday!"
She say's storming out of the room. I turn away, I can't bare to watch as she leaves again.
-"it's not solitude if your still here!"
I reply. The door then slam's shut.
-"god I hate myself"
I say burying my head into my hands in exhaust.

Enid's pov:

You know what? Fuck Wednesday! I don't need her toxicity in my life. She hated rooming with me so much? Why'd she make everything so difficult for me then!? I bust open the door.
-"hey rooomiiee"
Yoko greets but then notices my obvious anger.
-"Yoko..can I move in?"
Her eyes widen.
-"I- I thought this was a temporary thing? Hey I know things aren't good between you and Wednesday right now but-"
-"no. No buts. I don't wanna be her friend anymore, can I please room with you for the rest of the year?"
-"do you..do you really not wanna be her friend anymore?"
-"nope"
Yoko sighs.
-"alright, we can talk to Thornhill about letting you switch rooms"
-"thanks Yoko, your the best"
I say giving her a hug. This is a very bittersweet moment. It's like whenever I'm with my mom. I don't feel happy, sad, or mad right now. I'm kinda just here and kinda just numb. I guess this is part of moving on.
