How can I say that the day we had yesterday could not have ended more strangely. After the Survey Corps came back, I was taken into detention despite the protests of Mikasa, Armin, Mitabi, Ian, and Rico.
The events of the day replayed in my mind as I waited, unsure of what awaited me. I had no idea how long I would be here, or even if they would let me live. Eren was in the same situation, and I hadn't seen him since we extracted him from his Titan form.
I couldn't help but think that we Potters had a talent for getting into trouble. It seemed to follow us wherever we went.
In the hours that followed, my time was spent in a monotonous routine of sleeping and changing the bandage on my shoulder injury. The cell offered little else to occupy my mind or distract me from the uncertainty of my fate.
Suddenly, the sound of a door slamming echoed through the area, catching my attention. I turned my gaze towards the entrance, where two figures emerged. I recognized them immediately—Commander Erwin Smith and Captain Levi. Memories flooded back, and I recalled how Captain Levi had defended me against the Military Police soldier.
" Sorry, you're currently in the Military Police Brigade's custody. We have just received permission to see you. I'm sure you have questions". Commander Erwin stated, his voice carrying a mix of authority and curiosity.
I scoffed in response, my frustration evident," Not really. I suspect the reason I've been locked up here is because of my powers. Honestly, I would have offered you tea, but let's just say I'm not in a position to welcome you properly".
Commander Erwin chuckled at my response, his laughter fading as he became serious once more. Captain Levi, on the other hand, wore a slight smirk, as if amused by the situation.
" I remember you". I said, breaking the silence as I looked directly at the Commander, who returned my gaze with curiosity.
Realizing I needed to provide some context, I continued," Five years ago, you came back to Shiganshina District. The Commander at the time broke down in tears and said that the sacrifices were pointless...".
Commander Erwin's eyes widened, a flicker of recognition crossing his face before he nodded in agreement," I remember now. You were that little girl who had incredible guts for her age".
I couldn't help but let out a slight laugh at the memory.
Captain Levi, who had been observing the exchange silently, finally spoke up," Your eyes, brat. They're a curious color".
Smiling wryly, I replied," I am not going to disagree with you on that. To tell the truth, nobody knows why they are like that".
Commander Erwin then revealed," We already spoke with Eren Jaeger a few minutes earlier".
A surge of concern washed over me as I eagerly inquired," Really ? How is he ?".
" He looks like a complete idiot, but he is doing well". Captain Levi responded with his characteristic impassive expression.
Clearing his throat, Commander Erwin shifted the focus of the conversation," Estella, we're still very much in the dark, but I think what's best for us now is to question your intentions".
Curiosity piqued, I asked," My intentions about what ?".
" In order to investigate your home, we must recapture the Shiganshina District and Wall Maria. Drastic measures are necessary to quickly seal the gate. Your power can help us, and Eren's Titan power will be crucial". Commander Erwin explained.
" Your power will be crucial. Whether it's the Colossal Titan or the Armored Titan, they're likely to be the same as Eren and you could help with the Titans. Your intentions are the key here—the key to freeing mankind from this despair". Commander Erwin emphasized.
