And finally, after long hours of stress, the day of the expedition came. I couldn't help but look around as we prepared to leave the city.

" Commander, we're departing soon. We've lured away all nearby Titans ! Thirty seconds until the gate is open !". I heard a soldier state.

I gulped nervously, my heart pounding with a mix of excitement and fear. Stepping outside the protective walls was a significant moment, one that held the promise of adventure but also the lurking danger of the Titans.

" Wow !".

I turned my head to see two children looking at us with wide-eyed amazement. Their innocent wonder brought a smile to my face. They reminded me of our younger selves, dreaming of the world beyond the walls.

" It's the Survey Corps !". The little girl exclaimed, her eyes fixated on our emblem, the Wings of Liberty, on our backs.

" The mark on their backs is called the Wings of Liberty, you know !".  The little boy proudly informed her.

" Cool !". The little girl grinned in awe.

As I watched the children, I noticed Eren observing them too. Despite all the hardships and losses we had endured, seeing these kids' hopeful faces reminded us why we fought.

Just then, someone shouted my name, pulling me back from my thoughts.

" Estella !".

I looked around to see Isaac and Eliza, the siblings I had grown fond of, waving at me with beaming smiles.

" Good luck !". Isaac called out with genuine warmth, his small hand waving in the air.

" Come back soon, Mom !". Eliza's sweet voice rang out, making me blush like a tomato.

Isaac chuckled at his sister's remark before nodding, affirming their well-wishes. Since the Battle of Trost, I had been visiting them frequently and playing together. Despite their difficult past, Isaac had mentioned making a new friend at the orphanage in Calaneth where I had decided to place them. The thought of them being abandoned to their fate in Trost had filled me with sadness, but now, seeing them happy and cared for, eased my worries.

By the way, I had learned that Eliza was three years old and Isaac was six. They were precious souls, and I couldn't help but feel a sense of responsibility for them. Though I was too young to be their mother I mean, I'm only 15 years old. But the bond we shared was strong, and I was determined to protect and support them in any way I could.

I turned toward my comrades to see that they all looked at me with a bewildered expression on their faces.

Eren's eyes widened," Did she say, 'mom' ?".

" When the hell did that happen ?!". Gunther exclaimed, looking at me in surprise.

I sighed," Blimey, what are you thinking... I'm too young for that. And you Eren, you literally saw me everyday... These are two children I saved at Trost. Eliza had this habit of calling me 'mom'... I tried to explain to her that I'm more like a sister, but she doesn't want to hear it...".

Petra chuckled," That's cute".

I grunted a little before waving at Isaac and Eliza. It wasn't long until the pleasant atmosphere died when Darius started to speak.

" It's time ! In mere moments, mankind will advance once again. Show us what you're made of !".

" Open the gate !". A soldier ordered.

The big and heavy gate opened, and there was a few seconds of silence before Commander Erwin shouted his order.

" Forward ! We now begin the 57th expedition ! Advance !". Commander Erwin's voice rang out with authority.
