Third person POV

In front of the gate, the soldiers of the Survey Corps fought fiercely against the smaller Titans, determined to protect the horses from the monstrous attackers.

" Recruits ! Move the remaining horses to the west side !". Klaus barked, his voice cutting through the chaos." Guard the recruits in Squad Dirk !".

Marlowe and his group rushed forward, guiding the horses through the narrow, rubble-strewn streets until they reached a chaotic crossroads, surrounded by half-collapsed buildings.

" Where, Marlowe ?!" Floch asked, his voice edged with panic." Where do we tie up the horses ?!".

Marlowe's eyes darted around," W-we're under orders not to tie them all in one spot," he stammered." So take them—". His words faltered as he scanned the area.

" Three-to-four-meter class Titan approaching from the east ! Incoming !". Dirk shouted, voice raw with urgency.

Marlowe's gaze snapped to the approaching threat—two Titans, each lumbering toward them with chilling purpose. But before he could react, a shadow leapt overhead, slicing through the air.

Captain Levi struck like a thunderbolt, slicing down the Titans with surgical precision. A blur of blades, a shower of blood—both Titans crumpled instantly, lifeless.

" Captain Levi !". Marlowe gasped, startled by his sudden appearance.

" Now's our chance ! Move, now !". Floch shouted, breaking into a sprint, urgency driving him forward.

Levi landed gracefully on a rooftop, scanning the battlefield with steely eyes," Mop up those runts ! Now !" he commanded, his voice laced with both authority and frustration." Before the Beast Titan makes its move! No casualties—I forbid you to die !".

" Yes, sir !". The soldiers scattered, leaping into action as Levi directed, each determined not to disappoint him.

Gritting his teeth, Levi let out a low growl under his breath, his frustration palpable," Damn it... Such a let-down. The weak ones die so fast. I hate weaklings".

Meanwhile, high atop the wall, Commander Erwin watched the scene unfold below, observing the relentless battle as his soldiers struggled against the Titans.

" They're struggling against three- and four-meter-class Titans... Even losing some soldiers," he thought, the hint of a grim smile tugging at his lips." The Survey Corps' strength isn't what it once was. But without those sacrifices, we would never have made it here".

A memory surfaced—Premier Zackly's words, haunting in their truth. He had once accused Erwin of selfishness, of caring more about his own life than humanity's fate.

Erwin looked down, his expression hardening as his thoughts drifted back to his younger days," Back in training, I used to tell my friends about the theory my father and I developed. I joined the Survey Corps thinking I could prove it".

A shadow of regret crossed his face," But when I became a soldier... I stopped talking about it. No, that's not true—I know exactly why I stopped. It was because I realized something painful. I was fighting for myself, for my own ambitions. Everyone else was fighting for humanity's survival. But me... I had dreams of my own".

He could almost feel the weight of the countless lives lost under his command, a staggering mountain of sacrifice built on his orders," I stood on a foundation of corpses, telling my comrades to dedicate their hearts... while I followed my own path".

A chilling image flashed in his mind, as if the solid wall beneath him had vanished, replaced by the anguished faces of his fallen comrades, all looking up at him in silence.
