Third person POV
After returning from the visit to the training camp, the Survey Corps had settled temporarily within the Trost District. A strategic meeting had been organized, gathering the higher-ups of the Corps, including Mike, who was now well enough to walk for short periods.
" In other words, Eren's father, Grisha Jaeger, may very well be a human from outside the walls". Commander Erwin said, his voice calm but heavy with the weight of their discoveries.
" Yes... and he possessed the power of the Titans, just like Annie, Reiner, and Bertholdt. But, unlike them, he wanted to help those inside the walls". Hange added, their tone both contemplative and troubled.
" It would've been nice if he had actually helped us out a bit more". Klaus, one of the team leaders, chimed in dryly, his frustration clear.
Mike, ever the thoughtful one, responded slowly," No... it might have been more complicated than that".
" I agree," Hange continued." Considering everything else he knew, it's possible Dr. Jaeger even understood the truth behind the Reiss family's long-standing ideology. Perhaps he chose not to share his knowledge to avoid drawing the royal government's attention".
They paused, gathering their thoughts," But then, as soon as Wall Maria fell, he went straight to the Reiss family—the true rulers behind the government—and committed that... act of madness. He must have been investigating the royal family for some time. It would have required an incredible amount of resolve to do what he did".
Hange glanced around the room before their gaze fell on the Commander," And this is the man who wanted to show his ten-year-old son the basement. A room that, with his dying breath, he said held everything".
Silence filled the room for a moment as the weight of Hange's words settled in. Mike furrowed his brow, leaning forward slightly," What do you think could be in there ?".
Hange looked down, deep in thought," Something... forbidden. Something he was forbidden to say".
" No," Commander Erwin interjected, his voice low but certain." Something he couldn't say, even if he wanted to. I believe... it may hold the memories of the world that the first King Reiss erased from our minds. But until we go there ourselves, we can't know for certain".
Everyone turned toward the Commander, his words ringing with a sense of finality. The Commander fell into a deep, pensive silence, his expression unreadable as the room grew still. Minutes passed as everyone waited, until Erwin finally looked up with renewed determination.
" As of today, we are ready. The operation to retake Wall Maria will commence two days from now. We want to know what's in the basement ?" His eyes swept across the room, filled with resolve." Then let's go see for ourselves. Isn't that the Survey Corps way ?".
A ripple of subtle smiles passed through the group. Even in the face of such uncertainty, Erwin's unwavering resolve was infectious.
" I'll leave the organization of the teams to all of you". Commander Erwin added, his commanding tone cutting through the room like a sharpened blade.
