Estella's POV :
After several hours of traversing winding roads and rugged terrain, Jean finally brought the cart to a halt, eliciting sighs of relief from everyone as they disembarked.
" We finally made it". Jean announced, his voice tinged with exhaustion.
" I don't care why. We're too far from civilization !". Sasha exclaimed, her frustration evident.
As I reached for a bag of flour, Draco swiftly intervened, shooting me a stern glance, urging me to stay still. I rolled my eyes in response.
" Hey, don't carry anything, Stella. And Sasha, this one's for you !". Jean handed Sasha a heavy box.
" What is this ? It's heavy !". Sasha remarked, struggling under its weight.
Draco huffed," Stop complaining".
" Well, I would have helped you, but no one here wants my help...". I pouted.
Armin smiled reassuringly," It's not about that. You can't be too reckless with your leg".
" Right. The spell worked, but that doesn't mean you can use it like before without rest". Draco added, his tone firm.
" Yup, let us handle the rest. And Sasha, this box is full of potatoes. They're your favorite, right ? I'm sure anyone else in the 104th could remind you". Jean teased, eliciting laughter from me as I recalled Sasha's fondness for potatoes since our early days together.
" What could you be talking about ? I've forgotten all about it". Sasha replied with a feigned innocence.
" Denial is a river in Egypt". Draco muttered under his breath, earning a chuckle from Armin.
" Still, everything has become so expensive. If we lose these food supplies, we're going to starve to death". Armin chimed in, his voice tinged with concern.
I shrugged," It's a crisis for everyone. Hello inflation, Arty".
" I suppose, yeah... Given recent events, it's hardly surprising that retailers have raised their prices to compensate for the losses". Armin said thoughtfully.
" We don't need to depend on all these groceries. We can just hunt in these mountains !". Sasha suggested, her annoyance evident as she began to walk ahead.
Draco scoffed," Hunting ? No, thank you".
" We can't, Sasha. Even this far out, hunting's still prohibited. If people find us and start talking, what's the point of hiding out here in the first place ?". Armin explained, following after Sasha.
" O-okay, I understand... I won't... probably". Sasha replied reluctantly.
" I heard that, potato girl !". Jean called out with a laugh as he opened the door to their shelter.
" Guys...". A voice interrupted their banter.
We all turned to see Eren standing there, broom in hand and a rag on his head to protect his hair.
" Did you brush off all the dirt and dust before coming in here ?". Eren's voice was laced with nervousness as he addressed the group.
" What ? Of course, we didn't. Just look at all this stuff we're carrying, and Stella is still with her clutch. So it's pretty obvious we couldn't". Jean retorted defensively.
" Do you still not get it ? Do you think Captain Levi will be satisfied with soldiers who act like that ? This morning, too ! If you hadn't made your bed, then...". Eren's voice trailed off, his concern evident.
" Shut up ! Are you my mom or something ?!". Jean interrupted brusquely, his irritation palpable.
" Jaeger, transformed into a house fairy... And what's with that ridiculous outfit ?". Draco chimed in, unable to stifle his snickering.
