LOUIS' POV
I turned to a squinting Nick holding Mint in his hands "it's not what you think it is... you shouldn't be her" I faked a smile.
"Who is that?" they stared at themselves like they were sworn enemies. I cleared my throat "Fiona, this is Nick. Nick, Fiona" I gestured with my hands, the tension increased as no one blinked.
"Fiona is one of my besties... but we started dating recently" I whispered in the last part. He looked at us and shook his head with a sigh, I turned to Fiona "I call Nick my 'buddy guard' because he's more of a friend than a guard" my chuckle echoed in the room.
"What's your obsession with girls named Fiona?" he mumbled and dropped Mint on the ground as he sat "what do you mean? There's only one Fiona?"
Nicholas paused with his eyebrows furrowed "so you're telling me that's the Fiona from your school that turned out to be the alien girl your Dad is looking for?"
I nodded, they screamed in unison "what!" Nicholas jumped from the chair with his eyes bulged out, Fiona hyperventilating then froze.
"Louis, get away from her!" he pointed with his shaky fingers. "Louis! How could you?" Fiona stood up. I pinched the middle of my brows, a sigh escaped my mouth "Look, I'm doing this for both of you, relax. I have everything under control, don't you trust me?"
"No!" Nicholas yelled, "Hmm... kinda" Fiona shrugged. "okay, let me explain" I looked at her "my Dad has no idea you're in Diadora, and neither does Leo's gang so you're safe"
"... it'll be easier for us to date while my most trusted man watches our backs" I gave her a thumbs up, Fiona stared at me then nodded after a while.
"And what do I get?" we turned to his wrinkled eyebrows "hmm... now you know my secret daily activities, isn't that great?" I faked a smile.
"No!" he breathed out and spoke softly "I know I might lose my job if we get caught but I want you to promise me one thing" he gestured me to come.
Nicholas held my shoulders and stared into my eyes "I hope you know what you're doing? Promise me she'd never hurt you, you trust her right?" he whispered. I knew he was worried about me, I see all the qualities of a big brother in him. I nodded and stared back at him "I promise"
"Hey alien girl" Fiona raised her head as Nicholas half-yelled, "I'll play along, but I'm watching you" he gestured with his fingers then locked the door.
Silence engulfed the room, we smiled awkwardly as our eyes met. Fiona walked to Mint "aww... he's watching the television" she squatted and stroked his back, he turned to Fiona with his fore-limbs up
"I missed this cutie" she placed him on her shoulders and rubbed his furry body. We had a short conversation before she left.
...
I tapped the 'airplane mode' and called Leonardo, "young master is that you! We've been trying to reach you for a while" he exhaled. "Oh really? Sorry, I meant the other park, come back to the hotel" I hung up.
They shifted the blame to Nicholas because he was not with them "he was with me, it's your fault for going to the wrong park" I chirped in. They quickly apologized to both of us.
...
I promised Fiona I'll follow her to the seaside where she does her weekly practice. She sat with her Mom and talked for a while.
She walked to me barefooted "my Mom said you can be the audience for today"
Fiona smiled shyly "the four elements are around us, wherever we go, to harness its powers in the atmosphere we need to absorb them from the right direction."
I shifted as she gathered a ball of air above her "the north is wind" a wave of water encircled her as she moved to the right "the east is water" I jumped as a rage of fire erupted "the west is fire" A mass of earth began to grow as she directed her hands downwards "Earth is south"
I applauded her as I tried to process everything. "Thank you" Fiona took an elegant bow. "Louis, did you know there's a way to harness all four at once? Mom said it comes from the heart, the center, only the strongest warriors can do that. I need more practice"
I gave her a reassuring smile "you got this!" My heart fluttered as she stood on her toes and kissed my cheek. "So, how's the restaurant?" Fiona asked, playing with the golden sand beneath her toes.
"It's doing okay, the kitchen needs minor repairs, I'll meet with the advertisement committee. We need to improve in some areas" I replied.
"Wow! Look at you talking like a businessman," she said poking my sides with her elbow and we began to laugh
"Fiona, I'll be shooting that magazine in a few days"
