FIONA's POV
I woke up earlier than usual and prepared. I had enough time so I went back to the mirror to make sure I was fully ready for the day.
My blonde hair was neatly brushed and left untied like I always do, my face was natural except for the lip gloss I applied, I pushed my black and blue striped tie that tilted a little to the right, I pressed the edge of my white-collar to slip better then adjusted the waistband of my skirt. I bowed my head to my shoes and black knee-high socks which looked perfect.
"I'm good to go" I tightened the grip on my backpack straps and smiled at the girl in the mirror before moving to the door as I was about to lock it I gasped as I remembered something important.
"Louis' jacket" I picked it from the top of my chair then went to school.
I didn't see him during the morning announcement so I just went straight to my locker to prepare for classes. When I closed my locker I was lucky to see Dylan, I could have asked him for directions if he was not chatting with a girl across my locker.
I had to wait until he was done and pulled him back when he was about to leave. His confused expression turned to a smile when he saw me.
"So... how can I help my favorite girl?" Dylan ran his finger through his silky black hair with a smirk. I smiled weakly and hesitated before asking
"Ahh... I'm looking for Louis"
"Oh yes! Louis' girl, I almost forgot" he chuckled and tapped his forehead twice. I parted my lips to say something but I thought it'd be better not to talk.
"Follow me, I know where he is" I trailed behind until he stopped, I saw Jack speaking and laughing with a guy that had dark blonde hair backing me and Dylan which I suspected to be Louis.
"Hey Louis, Fiona is here" immediately Dylan announced he turned his head and our eyes met then I darted
I was about to move forward when I felt like I was glued to the ground, Louis approached me with a small smile
"Hi... are you feeling better?" I just nodded and returned his smile.
"I-I hope you didn't catch a cold yesterday" I asked without looking into his eyes and he shook his head. I raised but hands where I held his jacket.
"Oh, you remembered" my eyes grabbed the attention of another black jacket over his shirt and I wished I had left it at home. Louis took it and folded it into his bag.
The jingling sound of the bell drew everyone's attention and the crowd in the hallway began to disperse.
"Goodbye... I should take my leave now" I quickly waved at Louis and his friends before turning to leave.
"Yeah, bye guys, see you in the next class" I heard Louis' voice behind me, then I remembered his timetable is a copy of mine and face-palmed internally.
Throughout the first half of the day, Louis was less noisy compared to other days but that didn't stop him from asking for homework answers.
I sat at the edge of the cafeteria, I stuffed my face with some fruit salad enjoying my serene spot. As I was eating I couldn't help but wonder why Louis acts like he doesn't know me in the cafeteria and always sits with friends and comes back to me during classes.
"Mind if I join you?" Before I could reply, the feminine figure sat across, she had long light brown hair, green eyes and a skinny light-skinned body. She was someone I would want to avoid for weeks.
She gave me one of her fake smiles and I smiled weakly.
"You've been making new friends lately, that's surprising... Why would Louis pick you as a friend? Yeah I know you're pretty but prettier girls exist" she said twisting her finger in her hair with a smug look.
"How can someone like you have a past with Louis Walter, it's impossible to believe... What's your story? Tell me how you met" she leaned closer staring into my eyes.
"Hmm... Suzy, I was about to leave before you came, maybe next time" I stood up but she pushed me back on my seat
"How dare you? Don't you know who you're talking to? Tell me now!"
I took a deep breath then paused before continuing "I don't have a past with Louis, I just met him"
"Haha! I knew it! He just wanted to cover up for you" she laughed loudly, almost drawing the attention of nearby people.
"He has been following you around, what did you offer him? What's your secret?" Susan lowered her voice
"Please leave me alone, I don't know why" I exhaled. She stared at me for a moment then gasped
"Oh! I know why... you're the smartest that's why. Louis is only acting like that so that you can assist him in school work" she smirked and waited patiently for my reaction.
Her words were stuck in my head, now that I think about it he acts like I'm nobody in social gatherings but in class, he's always next to me.
"I know you don't believe me... I've known Louis for a very long time, should I tell you why he's friends with you and why he transferred?" Susan interrupted my thoughts and sparked my interest with these questions.
I wanted to know mostly about the one that concerns me, I knew it was strange for someone in that class to stoop so low to my level just to make friends without an ulterior motive.
As much as I hate to hear this from someone like Susan I had no choice but to listen for my good and stay out of trouble.
I raised my head and nodded, a crooked smile appeared on her face
