-Natalie's POV-
I pull slightly at my turtleneck blouse, it's choking me. While I groan loudly, muttering under my breath, I make my way over to my vanity where Diana is sitting. I don't know why but I invited her over before this parent teacher conference.
"You look okay." She turns around, looking up at me as I grip the back of the chair, glaring at myself in the mirror. I look like an idiot, the design of this silk blouse is loose around my chest area but tight around my stomach. I tuck away the strings that allow me to tighten it more.
"Okay? I just look okay?" I look down to her and she sets her donut down that I bought for her. I invited her over for lunch, they get days off for these conferences but she ended up staying longer anyway.
"No—I mean, you look hot." She smiles a little and I sigh, dropping my head. I'm not in the mood for this, meeting parents and having to discuss the rumours because I know they will bring it up. They have every right to, especially with Diana's aunt who now knows.
I narrow my eyes at Diana who smiles, reaching up to fix my blouse herself. I watch her, not pushing her away even though I'm annoyed and usually I need space...I allow her to adjust the neck of it.
"Is that better?" She asks and I nod, still watching her. She pulls back, sitting back in the chair again. I drag my eyes to the mirror, fixing my hair now.
"Do you want to sit down? Sorry, I'm just taking over your room." She goes to get up but I move my hands to her shoulders, pushing her to sit back down.
"You're alright, I need to stay on my feet." I pull my hands away from her, walking to my bedside table and picking up my gold watch.
The watch is cold against my wrist but I ignore it, looking to the messed up sheets on my bed. I glance back to Diana who fidgets with her hands, looking down at the table.
"Should I bring two pairs of boxing gloves in case?" I ask her and she looks to me, smiling before she laughs.
"She's not that crazy, Natalie." She speaks and I hum. I'll decide that myself when I meet her.
"Well, I doubt she will be calm." My voice comes out as a low sigh which makes me seem pissed off. I am but I'm not as pissed off as I could be. I can't be in a bad mood meeting these parents, I'll come across as an even bigger asshole. I suspect they already have their opinions from what their kids have told them.
"Jane is never calm."
"Well, meeting the teacher that fucked her niece isn't going to help her." I walk back to my vanity, picking up one of my earrings and Diana huffs before my her eyes focus on me through the mirror.
I look back at her as I put my earrings in, winking before I pick up my other earring. Her face goes pink as I watch her look away through the mirror, I hold back my own smile.
"What are your plans for the evening, hm?" I question and she looks back at me before down at the vanity.
"Another movie night with Charlie. I don't really spend all my time with him anymore." She picks up my lipstick, playing with it as her eyes stay down. I hum, bending down and picking up one of my heels.
"Too busy with me now, are you?" My hand holds onto the back of the chair as I slip on one heel before the other.
"Sometimes." She smiles again and I reach over her shoulder, taking the lipstick from her.
