Chapter 26: Waking up again

Jason POV

The world begins to appear around me as I start to sit up from the cot. I look around to see nobody near me and I realize that I'm alone. I look down at the new arm to see it has fully attached to my elbow. The door hatch opens up and I look to see Praksis enter with a data pad in his hand.

Praksis: "Welcome back Jorviks, Since you are awake I will test to see if your arm has been calibrated"

Jason: "Works for me"

Praksis then moves to my left and activates the data pad. He presses some buttons and then looks down at me.

Praksis:" Move the arm up if you will"

I lift the metal claw above and hold it straight forward.

Praksis: "Now, close your fingers"

I close the three digits and make a fist. I begin to move the wrist around a bit getting a feeling for the new limb.

Praksis:" Everything seems to be in working order now, you can now be released but I advise against any combat for the time being. It will take a while to adjust to the 3 fingers now so if you have any difficulties consult me or Eramis"

Jason:" Thank you Praksis, couldn't have done this without you"

Praksis:" My pleasure guardian. I should let you know that Eramis is currently meeting with Atraks-1 to discuss the incident with Taniks. It came up in our records that you have a history with Taniks is that correct?"

Jason:" You have no idea..."

Praksis: "Well I'll leave you to it, take care Jorviks"

And with that, the Technocrat turned and left back behind the door. I get up from the cot and stumble a bit from the movement. I eventually regain my balance as I start to walk toward the door. I feel a massive chill and it's then I realize I'm only wearing a T-shirt and some sweatpants.

Ghost:" Need some thicker clothing I'm guessing?"

Jason:" There you are, I thought you left me behind... but yes I do need something else"

Ghost then looks into the data vault and makes a jacket appear in my hands.

Jason:" Thank you ghost"

Ghost:" No problem"

I put on the jacket and begin walking toward where I believe Eramis would be. It was a bit of a pain sticking the new arm though but I managed.

Jason:" So uh, ghost... I was wondering what the deal was back with Taniks and why we had greatly reduced access to both light and stasis. That's never happened before"

Ghost:" I don't know guardian... it almost felt like some sort of presence... like someone or something was watching us and impairing our abilities"

Jason:" Savathun?"

Ghost:" Maybe... but whatever it is, next time we'll be ready"

Jason:" damn straight"

Ghost disappears and I continue my walk to Eramis. I pass by some Eliksni talking to each other and I see some stare at my arm.

The House honors me by name now for helping out so I don't have to worry about pure hostility but I think they're still getting used to the idea of a human joining their house.

I look back ahead of me to see a certain captain approach me.

Sirikis:" Your back and we'll now I see"

The captain spoke with a mechanical snake-like tone like most Eliksni but I can't help the feeling that I'd met him before. I then look to see some streaks of yellow on his armor and then it hits me.

Jason: "Sirikis?"

Sirikis: "Aye... I've assisted Eramis in your absence but I'm glad to see your return"

I remember hearing about him during a scouting mission a while back. His loyalty has been greatly received in the house and I remember talking to him one time.

Jason:" Thanks for keeping the place running while I've been... out"

Sirikis:" Eramis is just towards the corridor to the right. I assume you'd want to meet her soon"

Jason:" Yeah'd like to... thank you Sirikis, and I'll see you around"

Sirikis:" Farewell"

I bid my goodbyes to him as I walk down the corridor described in Sirikis directions. I arrive in a room to see Eramis discussing with the Eliksni Exo. There gathered around what looked like a hologram of the pod Taniks was encased in. They appear to have been wrapping up since Atraks was heading to the door.

Atraks sees me but Eramis is still looking away. Atraks looks and me and gives me a nod to go ahead and speak to her. She then leaves leaving me alone with Eramis.

Jason: "Eramis..."

The Kell turns her head around and looks down at me. I can't get another word in as she turns her body around and marches toward me. I get startled a bit and I'm getting a little worried about what she might do. That worry is replaced with calmness as she sweeps me up and wraps her 4 arms around me in an embrace. She picks me up and holds me against her body a few feet above the ground.

I feel myself begin to relax as I dangle a few feet above the ground. I reciprocate the hug and wrap my arms around her torso the best I can. I hear her take in deep breaths behind her mask as if she's trying to calm herself.

We stay in this position for a while until she lets me down and places me against the ground. She gets her knees and rests her helmeted forehead against mine. I feel her head pull away and I begin. To look into her eyes and she looks into mine.

I see her own robotic hand take mine and behind to hold it. I feel an intense emotion from the action and the only thing I can do is just look back at her and smile.

She smiles back at me too
