"He's stood me up, I'm going home." I hang up the phone, as I look around and realise that this guy wasn't going to turn up. I'd waited for two hours, but nothing. I started to walk away, it was cold outside and I just wanted to get home. As I crossed over, some guy hit me in the arm as he rushed by. "Watch it!" He looked back, he was older, curly brunette hair, this beautiful smile. "I'm so sorry, I wasn't watching my steps." I nodded, "No worries, just be careful." I turn away, as I started to walk up through the park, it was getting dark and I hated walking this way. "Wait up!" I turn back, this mysterious man came over to me. "Can I help you?" He seemed like a decent guy, but he was a stranger. "I just- I just wanted to say, you look beautiful." I wasn't sure what to take of that, if he actually meant it or he was just trying to be nice. "Thank you. I'm y/n. What's your name?" He hesitated, "John. John Smith." That was such a basic name, but I wasn't going to argue it. "Well, I have to get going. I'll see you around." I smiled a bit, before I went back and I walked away. When I finally got to my door, I noticed a weird blue box on the end of the street, it was tucked away, but I could see it. I frowned, maybe I was just tired and seeing things, I wasn't even sure that blue boxes existed anymore. I walk inside, shutting the door as I check my phone. This guy had blocked me. Wow. What an ass. I roll my eyes, as I throw my phone on the couch.

The next few days went by, I was heading to my favourite coffee place to get some reading done for my work project, I had been so distracted at home and I needed to think. I walk inside, I ordered a coffee and sat down with my books. I look outside, when I saw the same man from last night, he was looking up at something, like he was waiting. I watch him for a moment, curious who he was and why I kept seeing him so much. I snap out of it, as I grab my coffee and I walked out. "What are you looking at?" He looked back at me, "Oh, hello again." He remembered me, of course he did. "What are you staring at?" I asked, "Do you see that? That cloud?" I look up, "Yeah, what about it?" He glanced back, "It's split in half, you see there? In the middle." He was right, it was split. "I guess clouds just do that, don't they?" He shook his head, "No, no.. this is different. There's something different about it." God, this man was weird. But, I liked it. "Whatever you say." I sat down on a bench, as he looked back at me. "You seem annoyed." I shake my head, "Annoyed? No. I'm just- I'm bored." He sat next to me, "Bored of what?" I look down, "This life. If this is all it is, I'm never going to leave." I look at my books, "There's so much more than this, I promise you that." I smiled sadly, "Not in this lifetime." I put my books away, as I take a breath. "Meet me here. Tonight. I'd like to show you something." I frowned, "Why?" He smiled a little, "Trust me. I'll prove you wrong this time."

That night, I waited for him at that bench, I was nervous, but also excited, I had this good feeling and being around him, it felt different to anyone else. I waited for hours, but he never came. It got to about midnight, I was exhausted and I was already giving up, I go into my pocket, I take out a pen and some paper. 'I'm not going to be disappointed anymore' I wrote down, I tie the piece of paper to the bench with a bit of string, before I walk away. I went back home, sitting on the bed and staring at the wall. I take a deep breath, before I lay down and I close my eyes, just wanting to sleep. The next morning, I woke up and I got ready, when I left the house, the blue box was gone. I walked for a while, when I got back to the bench, my note was gone. I looked down, as I went back to the park and I saw him again, he was stood at one of the trees, he had his back to me. I wasn't even angry, I couldn't figure out who he was, but part of me didn't even want to. I stood up, before I walked over to him. "Who are you?" He looked back, "I'm still trying to figure it out." I sighed, "Aren't we all?" I lean against the tree, as he looked at me. "I think you know who you are, y/n. You're just too scared to tell yourself." I look up, "Maybe you're right." He paused, "Come with me." I look at him, "Come with you?" He nodded, "Yeah, come with me. Travel with me. There's so much of this world you haven't seen yet."

"Let's get out of here."

I never regretted the day I met this man.
