You were late getting to Kaeya's, but you didn't care. Nothing could ruin your good mood after receiving the letter from your mother. You raised your fist to knock on the door, but it opened. You locked eyes with a girl you didn't know. Her face turned bright red as she rushed past you. You looked after her, noting she was disheveled, carrying her shoes in her hands. You rolled your eyes when you realized what was happening. You shook your head as if trying to erase the memory from your mind and raised your fist to knock again, this time succeeding. Within a few seconds, the door opened.
"What are you doing here so early?" a sleepy Kaeya asked, rubbing his non-patched eye. You glared at him. He was shirtless and wearing blue, plaid pajama pants, very different to his usual attire. It was strange to see him stripped of his uniform. It almost made him seem more like a person to you.
"What do you mean? You told me to get here at 8:30," you replied, annoyed. Kaeya leaned on the door frame and thought for a second. Then, a sinister grin curled upon his lips.
"Oh yeah, I forgot I told you to get here a half-hour early so you wouldn't be late," he chuckled mischievously. If looks could kill, you would have murdered Kaeya right then and there.
"It's crazy, you're still late," he laughed while you continued to burn your gaze into him. He gestured for you to come in as he entered the house. You hesitated, but decided it would be better than staying out in the cold, so you entered as well.
You didn't know what you expected the inside of Kaeya's house to look like, but it wasn't this. The place was spotless. There wasn't a single speck of dust out of place. You figured since he was so lazy at his job that it would carry into the rest of his lifestyle, but his house was perfectly cleaned and decorated.
"How do you take your coffee?" he asked nonchalantly, moving over to his kitchen, which was similarly immaculate.
"Black," you replied simply, gazing around the room, a little stunned. Your curiosity took control and you allowed yourself to wander to his bookshelves, perusing the titles. You stopped when you saw a framed picture of Kaeya, Diluc, and Crepus sitting on the shelf. Before you could even process, a hand reached over your shoulder and put the frame face-down to hide the photo.
"Archons, you're fucking nosy," he commented sharply as you turned away from the shelf to face him.
"Couldn't help myself," you admitted frankly, smirking.
"Be careful, find out too much about me and you might fall in love," he cooed suavely while taking a drink from the coffee mug in his hand. You scoffed in disgust and rolled your eyes.
"Not going to happen," you replied, your face falling back into a glare. He thrust the cup he had just sipped from towards you while chuckling.
"You drank out of this," you stated, yet still accepted it, grimacing.
"So you know it's not poisoned," he threw out nonchalantly, smirking at you. You nodded, realizing he did actually remember your conversation the other night. You followed him back over to the kitchen and leaned back against the counter as he poured himself a cup.
"It may not be poisoned, but it wouldn't surprise me if your spit was diseased," you said back, "I don't know where your mouth has been." You took a drink of the coffee, regardless, then added, "Well I know one place it's been..." Kaeya smirked at you.
"So you saw my friend leaving when you got here, huh?" he asked proudly, giggling.
"Whatever," you said dismissively, "Just saying I better not catch any cooties from this coffee."
"Wow, first you snoop around my home and now you're slut-shaming me?" he joked, sipping from his cup as well and taking a step towards you. You shrugged and looked up at him.
