The walk back to the girl's dorms was silent. You stared at the ground, avoiding eye contact. It felt like your whole world had been turned upside down. Timaeus was a pervy asshole, and Kaeya was the one who made you feel comfortable and safe. He allowed you to process in silence as he walked next to you.

"You didn't have to come with me," you said quietly. Kaeya shrugged.

"I'm not doing it for you," he stated nonchalantly, "It will make me feel better to know you got home safe. I'm really just being selfish." You breathed out of your nose sharply to laugh as you felt a small smile dust your lips.

"Typical Kaeya..." you muttered. Kaeya looked at you out of the corner of his eye and smirked.

The silence fell again, leaving only the sound of your boots clicking on the stone pathway. When you reached the dorm building, you stopped and turned to him, still staring down, unable to make eye contact.

"Thanks for..." you paused a second, squinting your eyes as you thought, "Everything? I guess..." Kaeya snickered.

"Any time," he stated.

You both stood there in silence for a second more before Kaeya nodded and started to turn away. Before you even knew what you were doing, you reached out and grabbed the back of his shirt in your fist. Your body shook and the tears began flowing again. Kaeya didn't even turn around.

"Don't go," you whispered hoarsely, "You were right. I hate being alone with my own thoughts and right now..." you took a deep, shaky breath, "I'm scared to be." Kaeya finally turned to you, his face unreadable.

"Anything you need right now, I will give it to you," he stated. You gazed at each other for a moment, feeling the cool spring breeze brush past you. You felt that feeling in your chest again. Your veins felt like they were aflame.

"How about your Captain's position?" you joked, trying to break the tension while sniffling and wiping your face. Kaeya chuckled and patted your shoulder as he walked past you.

"Nice try," he replied smoothly, "I'll meet you up there." You looked at him, confused.

"You aren't gonna come in the front door? You're Quartermaster. Doesn't that give you special permissions?" He shook his head.

"I have to at least pretend to respect the rules," he sighed, "It's annoying, but don't worry. I have plenty of practice climbing these walls." He smirked at you, but you rolled your eyes.

"Do you even know which room is mine?" you shot back.

"Of course I do," he said, "You're right next to Leah." You nodded, then stopped. You gasped and pointed an accusing finger at him.

"You're the guy she was-!" you started.

"Yeah, yeah," he threw out as he turned away from you, "I'm a slut, I get it."

You smiled lightly as you entered the building. You prayed that nobody would bother you as you slunk through the halls, walking up the stairs towards your room. You nodded hello to a few girls leaving the community bathroom, trying to keep a low profile. You felt more at ease once you reached the door to your room. You pulled out your key and inserted it.

"Hey, Y/N!" a voice interrupted you, causing you to jump.

"Hey, Leah, you scared me," you said to the girl poking her head out of the door of the room next to yours. She giggled.

"Sorry. I just wanted to know how your date went~," she cooed playfully. You felt yourself glaze over for a half second, running through the events in your head again. Then, you blinked and smiled at her.
